Maybe you haven't seen him in this specific rotation before or on this specific call schedule or with this specific amount of responsibility (if it's a 3-year program, PGY-3 can be kind of stressful as the burden starts to fall more on the resident's shoulders in preparation for attendinghood). Maybe he's job searching and feeling withdrawn as he decides if he's going to look near you or search nationwide. It's really hard to say, and the first step is always to get the conversation started (in person!) Good luck!

      Thank you Alison! I hadn't considered a lot of those factors. So hard when the communication isn't in person. Let's hope that changes real soon

        If I am at home and text about something personal, usually no response. If I am in the office or hospital, and text about a patient, he calls or texts back. I'm just used to it. BTW, our phones don't get service in the hospital when we are in the corridor by radiology / MRI!

          We're working on this whole communication thing. There are good days and then WTF days. I hope today isn't a WTF day!
