  • Book or eReader?

I have to admit, I was slow to jump on the eReader train. I don't enjoy spending hours upon hours staring at my computer screen, especially when I was working full time, so the thought of coming home and staring at a screen during my "down time" wasn't very appealing. We bought a Kindle Fire for my mom for Christmas last year and I thought it wasn't so bad.

DH got me my own Kindle Fire for Valentine's Day and I've been in love ever since. I get tons of free books from Amazon and then check out books from the library. I thought for sure that I'd miss the feeling of the paper in my hands, but I really don't.

Any one else an eReader convert? Kindle or nook?

Huge Kindle fan! I got mine about 3 years ago, and I love it so much. I get so annoyed reading real books now - I always lose my place! Plus, I like being able to search for previously read passages if they reference something that happened that I don't remember well.

Love my kindle (e-ink, not fire) - I'm looking forward to the announcements next week; I need a kindle with front lighting that turns off when the kindle goes back to its "home" screens, and I'm holding out hope that there will be a new one that'll do that.

I haven't been impressed with the Amazon Prime selection, although I still think Prime is worth it because I'm now addicted to the free 2-day shipping. There are a lot of free/really cheap books, though, that don't require Prime.

Nook here, and I love it for trips (which is really the only time I get to read anyway) b/c I don't have to deal with transporting heavy books. I still read "real" books, though, because I think ebooks are pricey compared to the library and Half-Price Books! I need to figure out how to check out ebooks from my library!

I have a first gen Nook and absolutely love it. I didn't really think I'd be into it because part of my love affair with books is tactile, but I adore my Nook.

I'm a convert. I used to be loyal to real books but am now in love with my Kindle. The ability to read one handed during late night baby feeds sold me.

Am I the last holdout? You'd think with my degree, I'd be all over it, but I just haven't jumped on board.
I love books, and their smell.

I'm pretty sure that makes me a weirdo. The smell of books is awesome.

I read on my iPad. I find that when I read an actual book, I tap the page to turn it. Yeah, it doesn't work.

Like mommax, I love it for the ability to carry a lot of books in a tiny package. I take it everywhere in the hopes I'll have a few minutes to spare.

Not weird, at all. That was part of my holding out -- I love the smell and feel of books. However, the ability to carry a couple hundred books of varying genres on me wherever I went was my turning point. I have what I refer to as "literary ADD" and read several books at a time. It's nice to just switch from one to another without having to dig through a pile. And it's a lot less clutter laying around.

Another convert here. I still have a fairly extensive paper book collection at home from when I was younger, but I love that I can load up my kindle and essentially tote around dozens of books in my purse. I rarely purchase paper books anymore that aren't recipe books. I do still check out paper books from the library if the library doesn't have them for kindle. I have a fire and the 2nd generation kindle. I prefer the 2nd gen kindle since it's easier on the eyes, plus DH has started using the fire at work so I rarely get my hands on it anymore.

Not sure I would drop $98 for a bottle, but that's really cool. I especially love the packaging.

Anyway, I use kindle for the iPad. I like that you can download books immediately, but otherwise prefer the tactile experience of real books.

I have a Kindle Fire. I rarely read books on it but use it for magazines, quick Amazon orders, more internet type stuff. Every time I pick it up, the kids start clamoring because I downloaded a couple games for them when we were on a trip once. I don't love it. I love real books but I don't have time to read with the kids climbing all over me. Lately, I've been listing to books on CD. I'm loving that.

I don't have one but I'm not a big reader either. I prefer to read short articles & do hands on stuff like sewing vs. reading novels. I do read some non fiction stuff but i've never loved to read.
