We're getting our first "snow" -- it's kind of sleety and disgusting. Over 40 degrees tomorrow, so it's not sticking around. I have to admit, I hope we get more of a real winter this year. Last year was all mud, slush, and cold rain -- I'll take the white fluffy stuff over that any day. I miss Minnesota.Wife of PGY-4 (of 6), cat herder, and mom to a sassy-pants four-nager.

So, we are expecting a massive storm tonight. This quote from the weather channel's website freaks me out a bit...
IT CAN NOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH THE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION FOR THOSE LIVING IN NORTHEAST IOWA... INTO SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL WISCONSIN. PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY STAYING HOME... GETTING TO YOUR TRAVEL DESTINATION BEFORE THE SNOW BEGINS... AND PREPARING NOW FOR SIGNIFICANT BLOWING/DRIFTING AND WHITEOUT CONDITIONS. ROAD CREWS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE INTENSE SNOW RATES. ROADS WILL BECOME IMPASSABLE... MAKING TRAVEL IMPOSSIBLE THURSDAY. THIS MEANS THAT IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND GO INTO THE DITCH THAT FIRST RESPONDERS WILL LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO GET TO YOU. EMERGENCY SERVICES LIKELY WILL CEASE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM. SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.Kris

We already have 9" of snow with another 14" on its way.
The bad thing about having an amazing view of the valley? Our insanely steep driveway. Even with snow tires, we can't make it out with as little as 1" of snow on the ground. Thankfully, ours is the last house on a dead-end so we just park the cars at the top and walk down.
The kids have an AMAZING sledding hill. As a matter of fact, they got to sled down it with the groceries we picked up last night.

Blizzard warning here. Rain until about midnight, snow after that. DH has to pick up our freezer from Best Buy tomorrow night - I hope the roads are clear! He's unfazed - he just got new tires :eyeroll: I did HAVE to go out and get pop - he won't even be home until tomorrow night (on call tonight), but OMG if there is no DMD in the house!
