What's your weather like?

It's about 4:30am here and I too am wide awake and pissed and can't figure out how to turn the weather alert down on my phone. It nearly scared the piss out of me it's so loud. We're under a tornado warning, which apparently no longer means there has to have been a tornado sighted, but that "a storm capable of producing a tornado is in the area". The weather alert has turned into the boy that cried wolf.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)

Right now I am thinking that this storm was not all it was cracked up to be. Yes we got snow overnight, but not a ton, maybe 6-8". And looking at the radar, it just doesn't seem like it is all that bad. It is big, but right now the winds are perfectly calm.
For once, my kids slept through the night, but I was awoken at 3 am by a neighbor plowing the alley.Kris

We are still getting snow and some crazy winds. DH's nurse lives 45 minutes from the hospital, she just called and said she's been on the road for an hour and is only about half way. They said we wouldn't get ice, we got ice!! GRR!!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Well now I feel like a dick because we really did have tornadoes... whoops. Lots of damage about a mile from us and near the hospital, they're estimating it was an F2 tornado. Still pissed at how loud my phone alarm is though.
I couldn't figure out how to turn down the volume of the alerts but I did figure out how to opt out of receiving them -- I went to settings under my text messaging options and there was one labelled "emergency". I have a droid but I image iphones have something similar.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)

Yup - all the way at the bottom in "notifications". Niener - they started sounding the tornado sirens here for the same "conditions are favorable" bs. That's what a watch is for, numbskulls. I woke DH from a post-call nap and DD from a regular one for sirens this summer. Sirens = tornado >:-/

Rochester is cancelled too though I'm not sure how much they got.
Bad mommy! Neither kid has snow pants and the only boots we have fit R but are pink with fur. They really want to go outside may just have to do layers on the bottom and hope for the best.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.
