I think our Vitamix came from Costco, they run deals on them sometimes.

+1. DH saved his fun money, but uses it daily. A great purchase!

my dream is to someday own a vitamix (too bad it won't match my other counter-top appliances though)

After trying every single blender on the market, a Vitamix is the only way to go. Those mofos are spendy, but totally worth it. You can put anything in your smoothie and it busts it all up and blends it perfectly. I ❤ my Vitamix.

How much is a vitamin $300 off? I'm interested in trying juicing with it

We got the sexy one. I think it regularly retails for like $575-600.

That Costco discount was so nice!

Vitamix is a Cleveland company. Just pointing out more reasons they are awesome.

I bought mine from Vitamix. They have refurbished $500 - $600 machines for $300.

Can you use a vitamix or ninja as a food processor? I eventually want to get one gadget that can do both, well.

I use my Ninja for simple food processing. Using it a lot now in fact to make homemade babyfood.

We have a Blendtec. It's very similar to a Vitamix, and I love it. I think the food processing issue depends on how you use you food processor. I use mine for slicing, dicing, as well as mixing. I haven't found another tool that can do those better.

As far as per the recipe book you can use it to make peanut butter, hummus, etc. Could probably do chopping on its low speed. If you get the additional dry blade you can mill your own flour.
