We have a Blendtec. It's very similar to a Vitamix, and I love it. I think the food processing issue depends on how you use you food processor. I use mine for slicing, dicing, as well as mixing. I haven't found another tool that can do those better.-Deb

As far as per the recipe book you can use it to make peanut butter, hummus, etc. Could probably do chopping on its low speed. If you get the additional dry blade you can mill your own flour.Wife to Hand Surgeon just out of training, mom to two lovely kittys and little boy, O, born in Sept 08.
