Very similar to alotofyarn's actually! We'd known each other for about a month and had him out a few times, but our first real date was to Texas Roadhouse in September 2003. We have a pic from right before going out...one of our first pics together. The camera did something funky so it reminds me of those old tyme photo pics. I should unearth that thing!!

He had asked me out after some casual hanging out together with mutual friends: pool, chinese food, long phone calls etc. When he finally asked for what sounded like a proper date, I informed him that while I did want to go out with him on Friday, I already had a commitment. I was going to a Halloween party with a bunch of girlfriends as Baby Spice. He was a good sport and came along for the fun. I guess our first date had four other girls in on it!

The summer of 2005. I had broken up with my first long-term serious boyfriend (who I was totally going to marry and I thought my life was practically over when we broke up) who also happened to be one of DH's good friends from high school--they had grown apart during the year and a half I was dating this ex boyfriend (we were in HS and DH was in his freshman year of college). Since we had known each other through said ex boyfriend, after the break up I still hung out with some mutual friends and fraternity brother's of this ex. DH was was among them. They were all super nice to me and I we are still good friends with them to this day.

Anyway, several months after the break up DH and I had been hanging out doing non-date things and just enjoying the summer. I started to suspect maybe something more was there and towards the end of the summer before we went back to college, he said he wanted to take me on a day trip to the beach. So on a Friday morning he picked me up with a cooler packed full of my favorite cocktail ingredients, snacks (including chocolate teddy grahams...my absolute favorite), etc. We drove 2 hours to the beach and spent an awesome day in the sun, swimming and drinking and cracking up. At one point, a group of 'adults' (they were adults to us at the time..I was 19 and he was 20) saw us having such a great time and laughing so loudly they shouted to us "Hey! How long have you two been in love?" and of course we laughed at the obsurdity of that as well.

That night, he took me to a beach restaurant for our first official "dinner" date--even though we'd gone to restaurants before and he had paid...they were such casual encounters we considered this beach day to be the first romantic date we'd actually had. Almost 10 years later...here we are...that was, safely, one of the best days I've ever had and in retrospect, probably when I can say I fell for him.
