Good to know!!! I bought Gentle Lather and Aloeba based on website recs and I think you're right. I'm going to try the heavier conditioner.

I do that too sometimes when I shower at night. It's the only time my hair looks awesome!

I'll report back after reading the book and using more conditioner. Thanks!

Ok, my DD has wonderful waves in the back, almost curls. And mostly straight in the front. I have poker straight hair that will not hold a curl not matter what I try. So I never know how to care for DD's hair. This thread is really helpful. Any suggestions for what to do with half straight-half wavy, like my DD?

Speaking of curls...the other day I got busy after washing my hair and did not add any product. I did not get a chance to mess with my hair until it was half dry. Anyone with curly hair knows that such means a messy frizz. I was in the kitchen and took a teaspoon of coconut oil (it was the TJ stuff) rubbed it between my hands and used it on my hair. I figured it would be a good conditioner, I would wash it later and start all over again. Well, as busy as I was that never happened. Enter DH from work. He looks at me and asks "did you find a salon? I really like your hair". I finally looked in the mirror and I had soft, bouncy curls. I have been using the coconut oil since. Problem is that if you use too much, your hair looks like an oily mess. So, I have to be careful to use the "just right" amount. I have also noticed that the curl holds up while sleeping and I do not end up with Mufasa head. I usually have to no poo wash to tame the volume but ever since using the CO, I only add a little more to tame the flyaways.

Been meaning to share because CO is cheap.

I've been using the curly girl method since you guys mentioned it. It was working okay...but the BIG difference was made this weekend when I got the yen to cut my hair. I took about 6 inches off the back...and WOOOOO! Curls!!

                That's all.

Oh yes! My hair is so thick and heavy that my curls go limp if I let it grow too long.

I f-ing looooove coconut oil. On super humid days, I will add Ouidad heat & humidity gel BUT always have a layer of the oil on. I also noticed no more knots on the back. I can always run my fingers through my hair and no longer have to wash to tame it when I get up in the morning.
