Fruit farms around here all have well-maintained port-a-potties. No shitting on the fields. Those port-a-potties also have hand washing stations either inside or a station outside.

There's usually port-a-potties, but that doesn't mean they are utilized, nor have I seen any "fancy" ones with sinks.
Thank you, central California, for being an eye-opener for me!

        Wash your produce, ya'll!

Same as you. I feel like grapes are the greatest unknown when it comes to fruit (though apples have their moments, you typically know what you are in for based on variety).

I am clutching my pearls about the fruit, but I many times gave my toddlers snacks or water and then paid for the empty package.

I asked at the grocery store and they said they are fine with fruit sampling and if I want to sample a grape or blueberry or even strawberry they are happy to wash said fruit for me. No charge.

I never test either. Wouldn't bother me if someone did - it's the whole unwashed fruit thing for me too.

I also take a ridiculously long time inspecting it. Which is almost a contact sport here because the grocery stores are PACKED all the time.
