I asked at the grocery store and they said they are fine with fruit sampling and if I want to sample a grape or blueberry or even strawberry they are happy to wash said fruit for me. No charge.~Mom of 5, married to an ID doc

I never test either. Wouldn't bother me if someone did - it's the whole unwashed fruit thing for me too.
I also take a ridiculously long time inspecting it. Which is almost a contact sport here because the grocery stores are PACKED all the time.
