His is tonight. See where I am? He's at his house studying.

I say I would have liked to go (really just as an excuse to dress up, which I love) but the more I thought about the night, the more I imagined myself knowing noone and in the middle of a billion awkward convos. No thanks! Good thing SO had zero interest in going.

I saw wear something structured in a dark color (maybe a wine or burnt orange?) with a flared skirt. You'll be fine - you're gorgeous (and don't say you aren't because I've seen pictures!!!!)

I'm off to the swanky golf club next weekend for a dealie I am not feeling super-great about but I'll just keep mentally comparing it to the xmas party and then I'll feel better.

Sylvia, is this the same crowd as the beginning of the year party but minus kids?

Ours is at the Country Club as well - I asked DH about it tonight but he doesn't know when it is, I don't really look forward to ours either. The highlight of the night is that one of the other residents has a pre-party that is much more fun!

Your killing me people!! I'm throwing the Xmas party for the second year in a row. Isn't this why we created the colonoscopy suite??? So you could rag on us attending wives in private?

Ours is fun! I swear! I think that people lie it because we are still close to training and not too swanky.

It is intimidating to go to the department head's house. He's the greatest guy, but --face it -- they've *made it* . We're still climbing.

I think your party sounds pretty fun. I was going to say something about you not being x, y, and z (eta: stepford, like sylvia said) but I should probably save that for the Colonscopy suite. Or not, because I'm not going this year!

dh's department doesn't do a holiday party. I was totally surprised. They do the swanky formal thing at the speedway, and they apparently have a year-end thing in May (boys & I were in Alaska last year). I'm glad. They're lovely people - but he's the youngest on staff by like 20 - 25 years. Not much in common.

I don't dread going to mine b/c of the attendings and their wives, in fact most of them don't even come. I think last year there were four of 12 attendings present. Its just too much work talk IMO.

Yes, it is not so much the spouses in general, it's just the whole package and maybe a few people in particular. Most are fine but one bad apple...
