DH and I went out with Michele and her family (pre-baby girl) and we were both WOWED at her ability to grab little boys left and right, with the occasional threat, and not miss a beat of conversation. (D & K are pretty good, though)

I'm obviously beaten down already from one kid but I'm with Peggy - it isn't worth it! At least that is how I felt when DS was M's age. He was EXACTLY the same.
FWIW it's easier now that he is 1) Interested in food and 2) Has a better attention span and can be distracted with youtube clips on the iPhone, crayons, toys, books etc. We still don't exactly linger over 3 courses but it is doable to go out at least.
