I just feel badly for my parents. On the flipside, she does sleep until 9 every morning, so they'll be able to recuperate from the previous day. Ha! I don't want them to have to deal with this...

I called a family member. He's a pediatrician, and asked for some advice. He said that it doesn't make sense to bring her in, because they'll just say to wait until she's done with her cold.

I made some mini pancakes with chocolate chip just now for dd to eat when she gets up from her nap. I plan to lather them up with maple syrup, too. I'm pretty sure this is the only kid on the planet who would push them away.

Does she have an opinion on messy? One of my kids would love that, the other 2 would push them away bc they prefer to dip.

She loves messy! . She plays with her food, rubs it into her hair and ears(?!). This is something she gets from me.
I don't like that dh and his parents are constantly trying to get her to eat in a very tidy and methodical way. Let's just focus on getting it in!

Do they make a reflux med in the dissolvable strip, not the tab (the solutab has those little microbeads)? One you could put on her tongue while she slept?

Would she suck on a pacifier medicine dispenser? In the NICU they would put a bottle nipple in D's mouth and then dropper the medicine or vitamin into the nipple and he'd suck it down.

They need to make a transdermal reflux med! They've formulated tons of stuff to smear on cats ears so people don't have to pill a cat. They need these for PITA toddlers!

Wait, are you leaving her with your parents or your IL's?

                Alison,

As hard as it is, I think you should go. You deserve the break to keep yourself sane. Even if she is still being difficult, the break will do wonders for you.

I hope her cold is gone soon and that she gets back to eating more. it's do hard!

Alison, I wonder if they have something like this in a pedi dose? Luanne?

She's staying with my parents. I think I'll be calling every 5 minutes... She'll be fine with them, I'm sure.

As far as I know, the solutab is the only kid-friendly way of dosing Prevacid.

Dd isn't used to us coming into her room overnight, so there isn't a way to really get her to take her meds while she's asleep.

The therapist said there's a pacifier-type contraption that dd can use with a tube connected to her medication (dissolved in water). We might try this, although dd hasn't taken a pacifier in over a year.

She threw up twice today. There is FAR too much ing going on here!

Alison - is she at least drinking water? If her only intake is that tiny amount of pediasure, and she's throwing up, I'd be really concerned about dehydration. You know I'm not (generally) an alarmist, but if water isn't going in in a decent volume, I'd really think she needs to be seen.

Can you dissolve her Prevacid into her bottle? I know when my kids were little you could put droppers full of vitamins in there to help them take it. My heart is aching for you. I would be a complete wreck.

Alison I just want to send you hugs. I don't know what to say but I'm so sorry that you and DD are suffering right now.
Is there anything I can do?

I tried this yesterday. Unfortunuately, when you dissolve it, the binding substance dissolves, but there are little balls that sink to the bottom of the bottle (the medication). So, she drinks and drinks and drinks, but I can't tilt the bottle high enough to get the granules to reach the nipple.

Thank you, H and A for your support. A almost showed up at my doorstep. I know she means business!

Dd's therapist and I are in touch via email, and she's coming over this afternoon to drop off some kind of pacifier-type thing that dd's has to suck on to dispense the medication. Of course, dd doesn't suck on a pacifier and never really grew attached it one, so I'm not too optimistic. I'll try anything though.

Please save this thread for me for when she's older and causes me grief!

Start here: http://www.stevenmhallmd.com/compounding_pharmacies.htm or your yellow pages. Call and ask; most should be able to make her med into a liquid for you, and most will have a variety of flavors as well (most even have fishy and/or meaty flavors, usually for pet meds). Good luck!
