  • I got a call from the teacher at 5pm (I missed it, it went to voicemail) saying what a good 3 days A had had and how "just delightful" she is.

    • Sounds like she had a steep learning curve, but got the hang of it really quickly! Good for her!

It sounds like this is a big transition, but both the teacher and you guys at home are working on it together. That's good news!!!

          • Changing Schools

A lot of districts do a couple short weeks at the beginning of the year. Our kids' district has 3 days the first week, 4 days the second week, and 5 on the third. They do it that way for two reasons; the second week of school is the county fair and they know that more than 50% of the student body will miss that Friday, and it eases the kids back into the grind.

Yes, we live in a crazy rural area where they close down schools for the county fair.

                    • So Wednesday I get a call saying what great days Thursday/Friday/Wednesday were and then Thursday she gets a yellow for talking when the para was teaching and today she gets a yellow for being "very disruptive and in other people's business" when I asked her about the other peoples business part she didn't even know what that meant to explain it to me - UGH!

And now she is saying that she is the only one getting yellows and she doesn't understand why Mrs T is picking on her. Head meet wall! UGH!

Go in. Talk with the teacher. See if she'll allow you to observe (hopefully without being seen by your kid). That's really the ONLY way to know WTF is going on in that room.

                          • I just sent the teacher a note to see if I could come in next Tuesday or Thursday - I don't believe there is a way to observe in their room without being seen, I'm also volunteering for lunch room/recess on Thursday so I'll be there then. We'll see.
