  • So the Big Boss is apparently... Le Grand Boss?? All of the instructions are in French! Thankfully the diagrams and what little I remember from high school french class got me through most of the little booklet, but I still can't figure out what's up with the little brush. Any other Le Grand Boss owners know what the brush is for?

    • It's online on Amazon in English. The brush is to clean the silver thing with tiny holes that the veggies go through. However, a dishrag works better.

          • We got our juicer last night. I made dh and I the Green Machine drink this evening. My belly felt a little sicky afterwards but nothing too bad. I do feel more energized, awake and good. It's like my vision is better too. Tomorrow I'll try another recipe. I'm thinking one in the afternoon would be good.

            • Ugh. Not sure I'm a juicer person. I know I'd like the fruit juices, however I want to avoid them due to their high calorie content. Last night I had horrible gas pain all.night.long. from that mean green drink. Today I tried a V8 style blend and had to choke it down. Ick. I'm also bloated from that one too. Sigh. Dh still likes them and is encouraging me not to give up. Even though I like to eat cucumbers and celery, I definitely do not like to drink them. Yuck.

              • Just out of curiosity, is anyone trying this with something like a Vitamix or a Blendtec instead of a juicer? I saw them demo Blendtec blenders today, and the guy was talking about how much more juice you get with a blender like that compared to a juicer.

                • So the birthday gods were good to me and I am the proud new owner of a Breville Compact Juice Fountain (Proof that I'm turning into my mother...she shoved fresh carrot juice down our throats for years):

                  1. What was the outcome of the Great IMSN Juice Fast...it seemed like the thread kind of died? (I'm not trying it--still nursing--but very curious)

                  2. What are your favorite juice recipes?

                  • My favorite juice is green apple and orange, with a splash of club soda!

                    • I never managed to do a full on fast, but I did replace a meal a day with a juice for a while and surprisingly wasn't that hungry. The green juices that sound kind of nasty are actually pretty good I think (celery, cucumber, greens, herbs, ginger, apple - something like that). They taste very clean to me. I also really liked the grapefruit juice, and I'm not a big grapefruit person (of course in addition to adding mint, ginger and carrots I also added a healthy dose of agave nectar so that might have helped, ha).

                      • Ugh - I posted and it was lost! Anyway, I did the juice fast for three days. It was tough, but I definitely noticed that afterward, I was full much faster and not hungry as often. I lost five pounds in those days, and it helped me get a kickstart on losing more. I did mostly veggies, and if you like ginger (at all), it is your friend! I think it makes the veggie drinks much better.

                        • Despite my posts above I ended up coming up with a green juice I liked & didn't make me feel sick. We have been making it almost once a day. It makes you feel awake. Below is the recipe. It makes two 16oz drinks. Dh loves it.

                          1 bunch kale
                          1 cucumber
                          6 celery ribs
                          1/2 lemon
                          2 inches ginger
                          4 small pink lady apples
