I just remembered that I have a boat load of zucchini that I froze this summer. I pulled some of that out to use a a filler.

I am not all that committed to a true fast. If I can do juice for most of the day and eat some fruit/veggies or whole grains to round out the meals, I will be pretty happy. I think I will be more likely to keep it up then...

Anyone else notice that organic vegetables produce more juice? I tried all organic produce and it seems like it makes a difference. I wish I had a two speed juicer because the lower speed produces more juice from the leafy greens. Oh well, I'll just manage.

I did buy a 2 speed juicer and will have to try that for the greens. What about things like cabbage?

I haven't tried cabbage yet but I don't see why not. Some one asked about peas in the juicer but I read you shouldn't do them in the juicer. Did anyone try them?

So, I just watched the video and the results are amazing!

Deebs, you mentioned a recipe with grapefruit. Can you share?

2 red grapefruit ( I did it with yellow, too, and it came out good)
              6 mint leaves (I used more - maybe 10)
              1 inch ginger root
              3 carrots

I'm not a big grapefruit fan, but it was yummy!

We are ordering our juicer tonight. Not going to do a fast but start with breakfast and snacks of veggie juice. Dh will probably do a fast. He's been wanting to since we saw the movie too.

Last night, we had kale, celery, green apple, carrot & blueberry juice. It looked very interesting, but was incredibly tasty.
(We are eating food as well, just wanted to have some juice).

Apparently no one can resist my friend's bar including myself. FAIL. Back on today. Didn't gain any weight and just did a spinning class.

                    • Ok gang, I just ordered the Big Boss. Should be getting here Wednesday. I'm thinking I might try Fri/Sat/Sun this week and see if I can make it 3 days. I've never drastically changed my eating habits for more than about 12 hours so I'll be impressed with myself if I make it the entire time.

Would someone mind sending me this pdf I keep seeing referenced?

                      • I saw in the paper the Macy's one-day-sale tomorow has a $79 two speed juicer on sale for $20. Link to their juicer

Rawr! I'm so mad I could spit nails. I could have had a two speed juicer for less than my one speed. Now that I've used mine several times I can't return it to Walmart even with cleaning. I will comfort myself with some of the lower reviews this juicer got. Looks like it may have a defective motor when used on high speeds.

You could try.... Walmart used to take everything back.... But its been a while since I've returned anything.

                            • Hopefully this link works. When I was hot & heavy into juicing (waaay back in the early 90s) I followed Gary Null's approach.

                              • I've already tossed the box and receipt as well. I'm was mad I missed a great deal. It would be nice to have the two speed juicer with a much larger chute but with the family budget I can't justify spending $20 on a second juicer. In the future I need to find out when the one-day-sales are if I need something because I can save big. I was wondering when their next one would be and didn't look into it. I also bought a food processor recently that helps our lives with making salad easily. I saw Macy's one-day-sale also had a similar food processor with a two-in-one blender attachment for $10 less than what I spent on the same brand food processor. We could use a blender too and I tossed that box and receipt too. Grr, I'm kicking myself because I could have saved $20 right there. Oh well, lesson learned.
