Got out for a short walk this afternoon before the bad weather moves in. I need to get this weight gain, swelling, and discomfort under control. It's way too early for me to be this miserable already!Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

This week's menu items: lunches will be pork or steak over sauteed spinach and tomato. Grilling a whole chicken with truffle salt & pepper, and making Roasted Winter Veggie soup

hopefully I'll get back with exercising this week. In between gyms, need to join somewhere in walking distance.

The scale has been stuck for about 2 months and then seemingly out of nowhere I'm down 3 pounds in the past 2 weeks! My goal this week is to find my fitbit charger and start tracking my steps again. When DD was itsy bitsy it was terribly inaccurate because every time I would comfort her by patting her the vibration was registering as steps, but now that she's a little older I don't find myself patting her as much. I do still hold her a lot which will still skew the counter I'm sure but it'll probably underestimate if I'm holding her and I'd rather it do that than overestimate. Food intake has been pretty good -- not stellar, but acceptable I'd say. I could stand to up my exercise game. We've been going on daily evening stroller walks with DH joining us since he's been getting home before dark but now that the time changed we're going to have to go without him most days so I'll get to jog instead of walk (he can't run due to recent knee surgery), hopefully that'll keep the scale moving.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)

We started a 6 week get fit challenge today. I was pleased with my initial weigh-in number, but still have quite a way to go.

Thursday Friday I only hit like 5k steps. Saturday I danced at my cousins wedding but I didn't have my phone, so I feel like I still hit 10k! 5 out of 7 days ain't bad! Weighed myself today and man... I really need to hold myself more accountable to this group! Yikes!uploadfromtaptalk1447039240169.jpg

For the first time in probably a couple of months, the iMSN Fitbitters don't have a step competition this week! It feels weird!
Last week we went to DC for a little family field trip and opted not to rent a car or take a trolley -- we walked, or used the subway. So between Tuesday and Friday I averaged over 20k steps per day -- and the impressive part is, my two kids were with me every step of the way. Including carrying 4 days' worth of clothes and books on their backs for about 4-5 miles total.
I got the book Proteinaholic finally, and I've glanced through a few chapters -- really liking it and looking forward to reading it all the way through.
Halloween candy was irresistible and I gorged enough to be pretty sure that was the reason the scale crept up that week. But traveling, walking, and eating out for everything (I find it harder to snack when having to pay for things one snack at a time) reversed that change, and I'm so thankful to be back home with my pantry and my flexible schedule that I'm finding it super easy to do strict VB6 this week!
Grace, when we were walking through DC in the morning along with the commuters, it made me think how hard it must be to get steps when you work full time at a desk job. Strong work getting your 10k 5 days out of 7!Alison

Another hour this morning - lots of HIIT and upper body. Good thing I can still pick up my kids.
Mini rave: my gyn appointment is next week, and I'm looking forward to walking in and being weighed. They know my highest weight number, and I'm excited to privately share with them my better number.
