Be safe on the mud run, LM. The extreme ones freak me out. I used to belong to a club that let you use their in-house trainer for free "programming" sessions, and I absolutely loved that. Just one brief session, they set you up with which exercises to do and how often, and you just do it! Then when that didn't fit my needs any more, I could go back and get a new program. If I ever join a gym again I'll definitely look for that kind of input from a trainer.

On vacation we hiked 64km in 4 days on the W trek in Chilean Patagonia! If this was how working out always was, I'd have no problem sticking to it lol! I could do without the huge backpack and camping though.

So jealous - Chile and Peru are definitely on our list.
We've done Brazil, separately, before we met. 😎
Maybe I just have a crush on South America?

Yes I've been daydreaming about south America since college! We met a lot of cool people. But, it seems like most people have weeks and months off. MAPPLEBUM minimum 7 days would be tight but you could potentially do it.
I'm too scared to do Columbia but I'm sure the hiking would be gorgeous. Hoping we could do Peru with little kids. Car camping would be best though. Brazil I'm too scared bc of Zika. Multiple people expressed concern to me over Zika for our trip. But no worries, potential future baby will be just fine lol! BTW Atacama desert north Chile is an outdoors person dream. All the wonders of the world manage to exist here.

I feel like my diet still hasn't really recovered from all the breast feeding craziness. First it was dairy, then green leafy veggies etc. somehow I've been eating veggies chips more often than not for the past 6mo or so. Super healthy. 😏

Colombia has gotten a lot safer in the last few years. It was bad right after I left in the late 90s, but I've had several friends go on gorgeous vacations there recently! Still…they were mostly adventurous singles. I'll admit I'm still scared to go back since I have a family now. Peru is culturally similar enough that at least maybe I could get some comfort food if I visited there.
I'm trying to run three to four times per week, increase my mileage by a mile a week, and increase my long run by 10% a week. I'm also mixing it up with some slightly more-intense runs for my shorter ones. Today I felt great on my 4-miler! And…I tried the Just Go Girl and I think it's given me the confidence to get serious again about doing a half marathon. I will probably sign up for the August race as soon as DH gets his August schedule.Alison

I added in more healthy fats today, since I think my supply may have dipped from not eating enough. I put avocado on my sandwich for lunch, and I tossed our green beans for dinner in olive oil. And I drank a gallon of water. I definitely feel healthier not eating all the junk (we won't talk about the bags of gummy bears and beaver nuggets that I finished off).Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

Oh, and the piggyback board for my stroller finally came in, so maybe E will go for walks riding on that, since she refuses to sit in the stroller or walk further than a block before she decides she wants to turn around and go home.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

Today I made a new segment on Strava! I was so tired of not having any competitive ones near my home, so I set it on an uphill section of a trail I perceive to be well-traveled. Sure enough, there are now 39 efforts counted on the leaderboard! I'm 11th overall, and tied for 3rd among women.Alison
