Mine, too! I didn't realize it at first, and when we were first married I bought several cook books that I've never used because they only have a couple of pictures.

      I like this idea!
We'll basically try anything, although I'm celiac, so that puts an interpretive spin on things.

What a great idea. I am getting into a rut with our menus so I'd love to try some new things.

I would love to jump in as soon as I can tolerate the smells in the kitchen (thanks, m/s)! Sounds like a blast.

I'm in! This sounds fun! I really enjoy cooking but have gotten in a rut/gotten lazy. Some new recipes would be great and might get me more motivated in the kitchen again!

Should we decide on a book? I can't find the french onion book. We could link a few books and then poll a vote.

Sounds good. I'll leave book selection up to the real foodies on the site.

French onion soup is not a book. It is a type of soup that Nellie wanted to make. I was looking at recipes for it on epicurious.com. I was also thinking that we should pick the recipe(s) we wanted to use for October now. I suggest a dessert and maybe an entree in addition to the soup? We could try your pumpkin bundt cake (can you believe I don't have a bundt pan?) or something else. Of course everyone could make whatever components of the menu that they want. I am up for suggestions, and then we can choose a menu, recipes, and get cooking.

Want me to just take charge of this thing and post a menu and recipes?

Pretty please. With French onion soup on top? I'm definitely in a cooking rut.

Sorry...I forgot to post to this last night. Thanks, Heidi! I agree, I like the idea of a menu and people can make as many items as they want. Having a few options would help with any dietary restrictions as well.

I really like the Cook's Illustrated recipe for French Onion Soup but it is available only to web subscribers. I think I have the issue it was printed in. I haven't looked on epicurious. Heidi, did you find one?

Yes!! on the pumpkin bundt cake. Maybe a salad as another option? Like a roast beet salad or Caesar or....

Yep, I say go for it Heidi (or else we'll never get cooking!). I like the idea of a full menu -- as cupcake said, it helps with the dietary restrictions.

Yes to the soup, yeas to the bundt cake (I made that three times last year ) and yes to somebody else organize this quick.

What about a veggie side? A salad? I've got a bunch of fresh spinach I'm working with tonight.....not that I want you to help me plan dinner or anything.
