  • Today I get to see an ENT. I've never been so excited for a doctor appointment. The ringing in my ears has gotten so loud!

I've never had ringing in the ears with a ruptured eardrum. Maybe it's something else?

      • Today I got a pertussis vaccine for the first time since I was a baby! I had a pretty severe reaction, ca. 1981, apparently I was running a high fever and screaming continuously (when I was NOT a screaming kind of toddler)...I may even have been hospitalized. So for my whole life when asked if I'm allergic to anything, I've said, "I am sensitive/allergic to pertussis vaccine." Well, I'm due for a tetanus booster, and with pertussis cases on the upswing, I decided to run the risk that acellular pertussis vaccine won't affect me even if whole cell vaccine did those many years ago. I made the MA really nervous by making her identify the injection site for me (I got my flu shot at the same time in the same arm), so I can be aware of any local reaction that way. "Um, you've had a bad reaction before?" Here's hoping I'm fine (but I'm off to google adult Tdap adverse reactions just in case -- the clinic gave me the CDC sheet for childhood DTaP.)

My ear canal is curved. There was a ball of wax stuck. Gross! She had to use peroxide to loosen it and then suctioned it out. I can hear really well now. Too well. LOL

                • Today is DH's last day of all things residency-interview related. SO glad that's over! Now just the long wait to match day (in March)...

                    • Today is beautiful and my children are obnoxious. So, I booted them out the door. My 4 year old cried and was given the choice of spending the day in her room or playing in the snow. I am so over her melodrama. Thankfully she went outside.

                      • Today DF doesn't have an exam to study for (he had an exam yesterday). Today we are both of work and are going for a walk with no exam to worry about. The sun is also coming out!

                        • Today it is colder than cold. Today I am giving up caffeine again. DH drinks only caffeinated coffee and over vacation I drank what he drank. Now, I need to get that monkey off my back! I may be fading fast this afternoon.....

                          • Today I happened to be volunteering in my son's kindergarten classroom when we had an unannounced lockdown drill. Made me so sad to see those kids quietly huddled in the corner of the darkened, locked classroom ... what a f-ed up world we live in, where my 5yo has to practice what to do in the event of an assault at school.

                            • Today I'm taking DS (16 months) to a dentist appt with me. Usually I'd get a sitter, but this is the fourth appt in four weeks where the dentist has said I might get my Invisalign off, might have to wait another week, or I might get fitted for a whole new set of trays. I'm not paying for a sitter for the fourth week in a row when the odds are the appointment won't last more than 10 minutes, so off we go. I have visions of DS sticking his hands in my mouth while they try to make molds for my new trays, but I guess we shall see. Think positive thoughts!

                              • Gah... I may have had like 8 cups of coffee today (coffee pot "cups"... which means like 4 mugs) and I am positively *TWITCHING*. I wanted to get a lot done today so I overdid it! Totally counterproductive... now I can't even get work done I'm such a hyper mess.
