He also asked for Christmas and New Year's off. Ummmmmmm no.

Also, he wondered if he could get a closer parking spot because "it's a really long walk". Hahahaha this incoming class is gonna be a doozy. You guys would love some of their idiotic requests.
WTF med school did this kid go to that led him to believe that any of that would be an option?! Wow.

    • LOL! I'm glad you shared! Should be fun for the senior residents and attendings to break them in. Part of me wonders if they'll cater to them just a little bit, though. They didn't get to residency like that by being told no to as often as we would expect...

      • Unfortunately, some of their needs have been addressed, which totally effs up the senior residents which totally pisses me off. Our residency coordinator (who has been doing this forever) said that this is the most obnoxious incoming class ever. What incoming intern has the balls to bitch about rotation schedules?!? Apparently 70% of this class.

        • Yep, and that's why they keep asking, and will into attendinghood...

ETA - I'm not against programs trying to become more family friendly, but I am against people demanding special treatment that inconvenience senior employees/residents. The entitlement is my issue, not the asking exactly, but you have to know that by asking off for major holidays, it will mean others have to work in your place.

            • Haha well most of those who were little brats about it ended up getting the exact opposite of what they wanted. Which makes me happy.

                      • Yesterday, I accepted a tenured lectureship position at one of the two universities here in town. As both universities were interested in my services, I was able to negotiate favorable financial terms, which was quite satisfying.
