Today was my first day helping to homeschool my friend's 12-year-old son, and it was even more fun than I thought it would be. He's doing 6-week projects, on topics of his choosing. His first topic is beyblades, his favorite toy (they're these spinning tops that "battle" each other), and to kick off his project, he wrote a list of questions he has about beyblades, then called the company's customer service hotline to ask to speak "with a beyblades expert." He read his list of questions out loud to the person who answered the phone ("Who invented beyblades? What year? When were they sold to Hasbro?" etc.), and gave her his contact info, and she's going to have "a beyblades expert" call him back. I hope someone really does call him back. He also did a math placement test, helped me walk my beagle (uh, "PE class"?), cleaned his room to create a "good workspace," and went to a tennis class. On Fridays, we'll be doing cooking projects together, and then I'll drop him off at his music class.

Today was my first day apart from the kids in 5 days. I had 3 appointment so I sent them both to day care. K1's teacher called to say he's been out of control all day and is there something up at home. She's never complained that he's too wild. He must have been really awful.Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.

Well, when I went to pick him up, his teacher had gone home for the day. None of the other teachers know what happened and she didn't leave me a note. She's always said that she enjoys his "spirited" nature so he must have been really bad for her to call me. I'm supposed to call her tomorrow. In the meanwhile, I don't know what happened so all I can do is tell him that I'm not happy that he wasn't listening to Ms. Cici today. Tomorrow, he's home with me again.Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.

Today, we got a hotel because even though my ILs promised there wouldn't be any construction during our visit, they lied. (Stuff everywhere, impassible, no air conditioning, jack hammers, broken glass, sawing, etc).
Today, we went to visit DH's grandmother in a SNF, and realized how short her time is. It made me cry thinking about it, and DH is very upset, too.
Today, we are going to go do our own thing for the rest of the day.

Today I watched mama cat moving her kittens out of the shed... I saw her taking one down the street to some new hideout. I am totally, unreasonably sad about this. I'm 29 years old and I still haven't learned that you can't rescue every animal.Wife of PGY-4 (of 6), cat herder, and mom to a sassy-pants four-nager.
