  • Today I'm sooooooo tired. I have been all week. Why? Because I keep waking up through the night! Ugh. I need to start taking melatonin again.

V this is me too this week! I've been getting like 3-6 hours each night intermittently for no dang reason (well except last night, I was up until 2 watching SharkNado....) Must be something in the air. Hope you get a nap today!

                • Today, I had my first OB appointment. I feel like a bloated, nauseous, pin cushion. While I only vaguely remembered disliking pregnancy before, now I recall in vivid color. We heard a heartbeat. DrK is relieved that there was only on heartbeat. The doctor re-stated that I will have to have another c-section and that I cannot eat sushi. I think I'm more upset about the sushi than the c-section.

Today, I had a very comforting discussion with the boys' soon-to-be new daycare. I called because the 30-page registration packages are due Monday and I don't know our address, pediatrician's name, the kids' dentist or pretty much any of the information they need. Also, I'm not ready to pay tuition by August if the boys aren't starting until late September or October. The director was unavailable but I was pleasantly surprised when her assistant who answered the phone knew exactly who I was, my sons' names and ages, their assigned classrooms, and that they had already anticipated all of the concerns we may have about relocating and starting the boys at the new school after the school-year had started. She even had contingency plans in the event we arrive and the boys are too freaked out to begin school right away or we have to adjust the boys' school schedule, if they have behavioural problems (K1) or anxiety (K2) while adapting to the new home and school, and so on. And they also offered to help us find a rental. I'm sure they've done this all before but they clearly understood that this was a new experience for our children. They were really incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. It really made me feel good about our choice.

Today, I got an appalling low offer on my condo. Like $75k less than the list price and $50k less than the lowest estimated value. (I'm hoping to land somewhere in the middle.) And that is in a neighborhood where the values are rising fast. I sort of saw it coming because the offer came from someone who lives in the building and is looking for an investment property. When the guy viewed it, I told my broker to expect a low-ball offer. But this was actually insulting. I didn't even bother to counter-offer or discuss it with DrK.

                      • That is wonderful news about how the Bros K will be handled after the move.

                        And the offer? Really?

                          How about non raw sushi?

                          • Non-raw sushi is ok but what's the point of that?

                              • If you're mostly a roll-eater, then plain cucumber or avocado rolls, or tempura shrimp rolls, etc. can fulfill the craving without the listeria risk. But the listeria risk in a reputable sushi establishment is pretty darned slight anyway. I'm pretty sure that the majority of listeriosis cases are related to imported Mexican soft cheese, followed by deli meats served from open cases. Fresh sushi seafood is low on the list; I was comfortable eating raw sushi at least a few times during each of my pregnancies. (Well, at least stealing a few of my husband's pieces when we'd go out.) But then, I was also comfortable consuming small amounts of alcohol in the second half of my pregnancies. Everyone's risk tolerance is different.
