  • Re: the duggar family

I thought this picture/comment was offensive the first time it was posted and I feel the same way now.

You know, I find it interesting that it is okay to make rude remarks about someone simply because they have chosen to have a lot of children.
It is not a choice I would make, or even recommend, but I really don't understand the ridicule.

This is the part that makes me think they're freaks:

I think it's amazing that there is a link there that says, with astonishment, "the Duggars go through 6 gallons of milk in a week." There were only 3 kids in my family and, together with our folks, we easily drank 2 gallons of milk every week. I'm guessing that the Duggars aren't milk drinkers.

I feel the same way as Sally...the picture is really offensive. I personally wouldn't want to have 19 children but as long as they love their kids and can support them and nourish them then so be it. I feel even more strongly about this after having Eli. Having a child is really something special and I would hate it for someone to tell me when and if I should stop. Just my opinion!

What gets me about the Duggars is that there is so much of the older kids raising the younger ones. There doesn't seem to be a lot of "free time". They appear a really unified family, but I just think it would be impossible to value and nurture each child. I feel overwhelmed with 5.
