    • Sigh, I'm not voting

Well go Kasich I guess? I like him well enough, he just seems to have less of a chance than Rubio to me. Rubio was the only candidate I thought that had a chance of winning the general election. My gut still says the general electorate is going to recoil badly at Trump, but who knows. There are more idiots in America than I realized.

At this point, unless something major happens and we get a candidate other than Trump, I'm ready for the Republican Party to burn. I was never a "tried and true" Republican, but it aligned most closely with my views. Sort of. But now? Burn, baby, burn. I need another option. I think I'm with DH in wishing we had more of a parliamentary system. More parties where everyone is represented, but coalitions are necessary for everyone. And the crazies on the far far left and far far right can go scream in a corner and be happy without dragging the rest of us with them.

Even if Kasich somehow makes it, the Trump coalition is scary enough on its own and won't give up
at this point. Trump will run as an independent. And I can barely tolerate Cruz. He is awful and had been in it solely for himself since day 1. Why are only the really bad choices left?

Also, Ben Carson confirmed he is an idiot.

      • I am horrified for our country (and by our country). That is all.

        • So very horrified. I voted Kasich, not that it mattered in NC. FIL is a bigger idiot than I thought and voted from Trump.

The man who has a Mexican son in law voted for a man that called Mexicans rapists. The man who has 4 daughters, 1 DIL, and 3 granddaughters voted for a man who calls women "whores" and "pigs" and said military sexual assault should be expected when men and women are in the military together. I just cannot even with him.

          • My mom worked the polls yesterday. She said all the Republican voters in her precinct were excitedly voting for Trump and they were immigrants. I don't know how he's doing it. She thinks he could win the presidency.

            • I'm seriously wondering at what point to leave the country.

              • This is just awful. A man beholden to no one with a bottomless bank account is buying his way into the presidency by insulting women, minorities, journalists, and even his own supporters. Are people that angry? That unaware? That short-sighted?

                  Viva la revolution!

In all seriousness, THIS is when compassionate people and advocates of justice and equality will be needed the most. This man, what he stands for... It just cannot be the end, you know?

Those have been my thoughts as well. Someone has to stay and fight.

                    • I registered as a Republican yesterday to vote against him in Ohio. Fat lot of good our Kasich win will do, but if it does anything, it was worth all the Republican mail I'll be getting for the next four years.

Trump is a total wildcard, but if you look at the group he is "leading" so far, I don't want to know what the USA looks like when he's "leading" all of us. Even if all this is just his sales job to get elected, he's really irresponsible. We can't have anyone that irresponsible in a major office. Even my 19 year old said that he doesn't think someone's FIRST job in politics should be "leader of the free world". Start as a mayor or a governor Donald. Then we can have a little oversight on your crazy. If he's the U.S. President, he'll have literally no oversight.

And frankly, when Obama was running you can say all you want about his cult of celebrity and inexperience -- at least his followers were idealistic and wanted to bring people together and "heal the country". Donald's followers want to start fights with fellow Americans they disagree with ("get 'em out"), deport people and forcefully shut the borders.

The best criticism I've seen is this one:

Ronald Reagan: "Mr. Gorbechev, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL"

Donald Trump: "I'm going to build a wall - and who's going to pay for it? MEXICO!"

                      How far we have fallen.

Mom to DS (18) and DD (15) (and many many pets)

"Where are we going - and what am I doing in this handbasket?"
