I think I'm gathering that our state has a caucus for president, and a primary for other elected positions. Primaries are open, but to vote in the primary you have to sign a statement swearing you haven't participated in the caucus for the other party, and to vote in the caucus you have to publicly state your affiliation for the party.

I'm glad I looked into this though. I've kind of lamented that we are a vote-by-mail state so I don't get to involve my kids much in the "hoopla" of voting. But knowing that the caucus will be in-person on a Saturday, I might drag my kids down there. Hmmm...that would mean deciding on a candidate to support -- I have four weeks!

I cast my vote for Rubio, although I'm pretty disgusted by a lot of his stances as well.

I usually dislike when they get involved in politics, but this is a case where church members are being deceived by a someone who claims to speak for Christians, but is teaching a message that contradicts the Bible. It is sad that many Christians don't know the Bible well enough to recognize it, but I'm glad they are being corrected now.

I agree. I don't agree with many of Obama's positions but he conducts himself (as have most prior presidents most of the time) with decency and respect.

For a while, I thought I just wouldn't vote if it was Trump vs Hillary/Bernie (who's positions I almost entirely disagree with, both of them). But at this point, I'd vote against him in a heartbeat. I'm fairly certain he will get us mocked and attacked by the rest of the world.

I also don't like when religion gets mixed in with politics, but I'm relieved to see some leaders speaking up.

Exactly. I despise the way he has handled many things and much of what he supports. But I have to believe that he things he is doing what is right for America. I don't believe that of Trump.

Also trying to make sure hubby actually votes. I tried to convince him to get an absentee ballot out of convenience, but he never did.

                      Sigh, I'm not voting

DH and I just watched the re-run of last week's republican debate in TX. I have to say it was incredibly entertaining to watch Trump just say what he thought without giving two shits. The republicans are in trouble. Too many people stayed in the race for too long (Fiorina, Carson, Kasich , Bush...). This split the vote and let Trump pull ahead. I don't see Rubio pulling it off with Cruz in the race. Cruz is like a slimy used car salesman. I'm guessing Trump will pull off the nomination.

Will it be Clinton for the dems? IDK. I know too many men who won't support a woman and I know many women dems who judge her harshly for personality traits that they would find acceptable in a man. I'm not sure we're ready for Sanders.

So if we have Trump vs Clinton, what happens? I think Clinton loses. My vote won't matter. Central MN goes republican in every election.

I won't vote Trump, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that there is something refreshing about a candidate just standing up and not giving a shit about polls, politicians, media etc. again, I don't like him. But he's entertaining. Maybe his role will be to make the discussions more real? I don't know.

But he says nothing of substance and there is no avenue for discussion. His way or the highway and he calls you a loser.

I know. Like I said, I don't agree with him. At the same time, he doesn't take shit and he tells people exactly what he thinks. I can't reiterate enough that I think he is a narcissist.

The polling I've seen shows Clinton losing to Trump.

I just can't believe that. I might vomit while doing it but I think I would vote Democratic to avoid Trump.

                              Yuck

I'm right there with you ST.

Trump is funny. He obviously says ridiculous shit and sometimes it's entertaining. I don't want a funny president. I want a president I trust to deal in times of war or if heaven forbid, there's another 9/11.
