I'm scared! My mother in law actually told me I may want to stop using my married name (Goldberg), she is in her 90s and lived through WWII. So very sad.

So, here is sort of where I am, why I don't think this is the end of the world... Trump likes to win, to succeed. He figured out how to do that by doing and saying a lot of inappropriate things throughout this election. It worked. Granted, what that says about a lot of the population is sad, but that's a whole other story. I didn't vote for him because I didn't think he was fit to be the leader of our country, even though his "stances" on issues (in quotes, because he hasn't been consistent, and I don't know what his actual stances are) are more in line with mine than Clinton's (I disagree with her on almost all of them). I likely would have voted against any of the democratic candidates for the same reason - it had nothing to do with the fact that she was a woman. I believe that a majority of the Trump voters are actually in this camp - they aren't happy with where we are and didn't want to put another untrustworthy career politician in the White house - the ones who are actually terrible individuals and fueling the inappropriate behavior happen to be making the news, but I do think they're in the minority. In order for Trump to be a successful president, he's going to have to be different. I'm hoping that he'll surround himself with intelligent leaders who can help him be successful. Granted, I'm a moderately conservative Christian, so my ideas of success are going to be different from others. But, I really do think we will survive this.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

I haven't said anything yet here.
I live in a swing state, so a write in or third party vote didn't seem like a viable option to me.
I liked zero options. I loved Bernie, loved him.
I did what I deemed most appropriate for me, based on rhetoric and hate speech.
I have called on him, through his website, letters, social media to now address us all, and denounce the words and the violent actions that are happening "in his name".
I pray every day that I will be delightfully surprised, that what has been said and done (in hate and bigotry) will be condemned publicly by him.
I have signed up to donate to various charities, serve at special events, and will continue to write letters of support to organizations and members of our community who desperately need to be told they are safe with me.

I don't get all the holocaust and anti-semitism fears. I understand that hate breeds hate, and KKK and all that, but to be quite honest, as a Jew I was MUCH more uncomfortable during Obama's time in office, and though I did not support Trump, I think a continuation of the democratic control of the White House would not be a positive thing for us. I always keep our passports up to date.
Having been witness to BDS demonstrations and seen vicious, rabid hate first hand, I'm more suspicious of a government which gives confidence to Israel haters (if you think it's not masked anti-semitism, think again) than a giant unknown, which is what we've got now. And ironically, Sanders or Stein scare me more than Clinton or Trump.Enabler of DW and 5 kids

My understanding of Trump is that he is essentially a populist, so unless there is actual widespread support for anti-Semitic policies in the U.S., it would be highly unlikely for him to push such an agenda. On the other hand, Muslims should probably be terrified.

I believe the anti-Semitic fears come from his supporters. He has a lot of followers from those groups, and he has retweeted memes and quotes that come from their sites. Here's a good explanation: http://www.cracked.com/blog/why-trum...nternet-nazis/Laurie

Sure, most internet nazis probably support Trump, however these are a very miniscule minority of his core voters. He's hardly going to risk upsetting his mainstream voters by going after the Jews when there are other considerably more "popular" targets available (i.e. Muslims, non-white immigrants, etc).

I agree with you that if people start demanding alternative treatment for non-white Americans, it won't start with people of Jewish descent. I get what you're saying, but all non-ethnic/social-majority groups are scared right now, and you can come up with any number of reasons why theirs won't be the start of the inequality, but the fact is that we all expect it to begin somewhere and spread. You can't tell one group not to worry yet.
