  • Hope I'm not opening a can of worms here...did any of you see the Boston Legal a few months ago (?) that dealt with Scientology?

Vaguely, so as not to offend anyone, it dealt with spaceships, lizards, & volcano craters. Certainly, to each his own!

Try to catch the rerun of it!

        • This just in from the Washington Post:

          Celebritology 101: TomKat Triage

Earlier this week, fellow Scientologist Jenna Elfman, who you may remember from sitcom TV past, surfaced to reassure us that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are "happy." Thanks, Jenna.

It wasn't until yesterday, though, when Jada Pinkett Smith emphatically remarked that Katie Holmes isn't a prisoner in her own home and is, in fact, a "tigress" (roar!), that my TomKat radar (like "Spidey Sense" minus the webbing) went into all kinds of high alert.

See, of late our insatiable appetite for details (true, false and in-between) about the private lives of the TomKat clan has been well fed. Let's face it, we've been downright spoiled. Here's just a sampling of recent buzz about the mythical pair:

-- Katie has been flirting with "Mad Money" co-star Adam Rothenberg.
-- Katie has been secretly meeting with Catholic priests.
-- Katie's telling friends she can't believe she "abandoned her old life."
-- In desperation, Katie called Nicole Kidman for marriage advice.
-- Tom and his mother have taken over the Louisiana set of Katie's movie.
-- Tom has demanded that Katie take Scientology "mommy classes."

That is why today, when I saw this article posted to People.com, I recognized an opportunity to provide students of Celebritology with a textbook example of a full-on PR offensive. The story quotes not one, not two, but FOUR high octane friends who all agree with People's "ripped from the press release" lede, which reads:

"Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes share a life together that's shocking - shockingly normal, that is, considering they're one of the world's most famous couples."

Do we get the message that Tom and Katie are just an average young family? Mission accomplished. I'll be framing a high res image of the story and adding it to the Celebritology Hall of Fame, right next this Rock Hudson wedding portrait.

          • Tom Cruise has bought a new family home for Katie — and his mother is moving in too.

The actor splashed out $35m on a huge mansion in Beverly Hills - very near to the one he currently rents - and just a mile from their new pals David and Victoria Beckham.

The new home will have plenty of room for Tom, Katie, baby Suri and his two adopted children Isabella and Connor - as well as his mother who now lives with the family.
Tom chose the property and made the current owners, who had not put the house on the market, an offer they could not refuse.
As well as seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, the property ha a large swimming pool and tennis courts.
And apparently its paparazzi proof…ah, come on Tom

            • Holmes Says She's Ready for More Kids

LOS ANGELES -- Being the mother of Tom Cruise's baby daughter has been so much fun that Katie Holmes tells "Entertainment Tonight" she's ready to have more children.

"We're having the best time, it's so amazing," Holmes, 28, said of the year she and Cruise have spent largely out of the spotlight. She gave birth to the couple's first child, Suri, in April 2006.

"Yes, definitely," she told the TV program when asked about the possibility of more kids. The interview airs Monday.

Cruise and his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, have a 12-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter, and Holmes said the role of stepmother is one she relishes.

"The kids are so sweet, they're so great with Suri and she lights up when she sees them," she said. "We have so many kids in our house, there's always this wonderful chatter and the great noise of kids."

The actress, who recently returned to work filming the movie "Mad Money" with Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah, said her 44-year-old husband has played a key role in making the transition to motherhood an easy one.

"He's a great father and so it came to no shock that when we had Suri he was amazing with the baby," she said.

              • Tom Cruise has created an entire production company for the sole purpose of producing films for his wife Katie Holmes. Tom will have complete control over what kind of projects Katie will do.

A source said, "Kate is a little disillusioned with acting at the moment, especially as she's taken to being a mother so wholeheartedly. She's not interested by many of the roles she is being offered so Tom has stepped in with some ideas of his own."
"He has one project he wants both of them to star in and another he will produce with Katie in the lead."

"He wants to build a whole production company around her."

Who needs a movie? Bitch is already playing the role of her LIFE as Tom Cruise's bitch beard. What's the point of Katie anymore? Tom should just keep her in a little box and bring her out whenever he needs a wholesome photo-op.

                  • Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are apparently moving to a bigger house and want to keep the same sleeping arrangements, separate bedrooms. Star Magazine reports the two currently live in different wings of their Beverly Hills mansion and this situation works best for them.

A source said, “Of course they spend time together alone at night like most married couples; after all, they conceived Suri! In fact, they even joke about having separate bedrooms to their friends – Katie says Tom snores, and this way she can get her beauty sleep!”

The source claims they've always had this arrangement. “At first, it was because Katie was Catholic and single, and they were only dating. It was the proper thing to do. Now that they are married, they don’t feel the need to alter the arrangement. Tom has his master bedroom, and Katie has hers.”

Katie also wanted her own suite so she could design it how she wanted. "Over the course of several months, Katie created a larger space to have as her own. In the end, she designed the room of her dreams, a very feminine room painted in pastel colors, with a small carousel and filled with many stuffed animals.”

Um...that sounds more like Tom's room.

TomKat will move into their bigger $35 Million BH mansion later this summer and everything will stay the same.

Yeah, meaning they still won't boink. They should just move into different homes in different cities in different countries on different planets. They can meet up for the occasional photo-op. Nothing will change!

Tom Cruise and company were finally allowed to film parts of their Nazi movie, 'Valkyrie' in Berlin and Tommy Girl wanted a moment of silence to pay tribute to the anti-Nazi heroes they portray. This moment of silence was broken when one of the crew members laid a fart.

A source on set said, "Fortunately the mystery gassy man didn't completely ruin the touching gesture. Quite rightly, Tom is furious. We were filming at the Bendler Block in Germany where the anti-Nazis were executed."

I kept my eye out for them when I was in Berlin. They had just started filming towards the end of my stay there. Of course, our tastes in restaurants aren't the same; with price being the limiting factor for me. Plus, who goes to an Italian restaurant in Berlin, when there are thousands of yummy Turkish and Middle Eastern restaurants there?!

has anyone ever read or heard about certain killings of people that disagree w/scientology? there are stories out there, but im to lazy to look them up. i have read them and they're spooky.

here is a story about the latest guy that 'commited suicide' and was a foe of scientology.

A man who agreed to plead guilty in a plot to extort more than $1 million from Tom Cruise for the actor's stolen wedding photos was found dead in his home, authorities said.

Investigators said it appeared David Hans Schmidt, 47, who was under house arrest and faced up to two years in federal prison, had committed suicide.

He was found dead in his townhouse around 3 p.m. Friday after police noticed a tracker placed on him had not moved and he had not checked in, said Lt. Anthony Lopez.

It wasn't known when Schmidt, who was free on $100,000 bond, was to enter his plea in court. He also faced a $250,000 fine under a plea agreement filed Aug. 24 in Los Angeles.

Schmidt, known for brokering deals involving compromising celebrity photos and videos, was arrested in July after federal authorities said a co-defendant obtained photos of Cruise's wedding to Katie Holmes in Italy last year from the event's official photographer, court documents show.

Starting in May, Schmidt had repeated contact with Cruise representatives and threatened to release the photos if he didn't receive between $1.2 and $1.3 million, authorities said.

Schmidt also tried to auction off Paris Hilton's diaries, along with photos of her in various stages of undress and other personal items that had been locked away in a Los Angeles-area storage locker until a few months ago.

He also claimed to have brokered deals to sell a sex video of Dustin Diamond, who played Screech on "Saved by the Bell," and a video of skater Tonya Harding's wedding night, according to published reports. He also claimed to have obtained topless shots of rescued U.S. Army POW Pfc. Jessica Lynch.
"He hung himself, and the shower stall was so small, he had to squat to get the job done,"
also, if you have a half hour, this video from the BBC is interesting. i really dont care what type of 'religion' they practice...but they seem way too defensive to me.
i realize this isnt the debate section...but i cannot start a new tomkat thread. this one is so good!
