  • Capris

So I gather that there is a group who HATES capris and a group that loves them. I'm sort of neutral. What is so bad/good about them?

I LOVE capris bc I hate my legs. My mom says I'm crazy bc I am 5'7" and my legs are as long as DHs. They used to call me bambi. I HATE my legs and the capris cover them up. I also like gauchos too.

I am iffy about capris. They are confortable, definitely. I own a couple pair. However, I'm sure they make me look short and stout and my (already large) ankles look bigger. I'm not a difinitive answer on this one.

        I totally agree!

In Chicago, it's so f@#$^king hot in the summer, but office buildings and public transportation are kept so @#@#$ing cold. I wore capris my first summer here when I was 5', 110 pounds. Only because I needed the leg coverage when I was indoors. Then, I used to roll them up into shorts when I was outside. Are you cringing yet, Lily?

Don't know about Lily, but I am. Weren't they all wrinkly after that?

I think it's doable to pull off capris but it really depends on the person and the capris. I totally agree about the no flipflops with them though.

I thought I looked okay in capris, and I am definitely not 135 pounds. I was in high school though!

Gawd, I am such a trainwreck.

It gets SO hot here. I wasn't used to the weather, and it's just like you go into survival mode and roll up capris.

It's so humid here than nothing stays wrinkled for long.

Gosh. You guys would die if you ever run into me. I'm all about wearing my reefs or rainbows with whatever, whenever it is warm enough. 50 degrees or warmer. I am such a bum. It kills my mother. She's so fashion savy and if I had things my way I'd wear jeans and a t-shirt everyday no matter the temp. And eeek... I'm almost 29 and I still don't wear makeup. My poor mother, I'm her only daughter. I think she traumatized me from all the years of having to wait for her to get ready so that we could go somewhere (even the grocery store). But hey, I guess it worked for her. All the guys and teachers at my HS thought she was HOT!! I'm such a loser.

All of my capris are wider leg. I held out for a while, knowing they would probably make me look shorter. They work really well for the summer weather here. It is cooler and a shorts or a skirt can be chilly.

I am lucky to have skinny ankles, probably false advertising for the rest of my leg, but that helps pull it off. And no flips with the capris. No flips at all most of the time because they hurt my feet.

                    Davita, I think you rock!

That's me too. T-shirt and jeans (or denim capris) and sandals without heels all year round. No makeup. Hair in a ponytail. Low maintenence.

No capris. I've never given much thought to why. They just look horrid on me. I'd prefer not to think it's because I'm short, fat and dumpy. :> It's just a bad style, right?

                        Denim capris?!?!?!?!
This is definitely a great example of - just because it's on the rack, doesn't mean you have to buy it.

Alison, I hear you on the hot weather and humidity but I really think you need a better solution. We have sevel months to think of something.

Wow - who knew capris were so bad. I'm 5'2" and approximately 125 pounds. I HATE shorts because I have a butt and crappy thighs. However I have fabulous calves if I do say so myself. So I LOVE capris b/c they cover my crappy legs and show the good part!

ETA: I only wear wide leg/loose ones.

I with Davita in the hate my legs camp. I wear capris a lot, but this past summer I *made* myself buy two denim skirts (gap and b.r. - way on sale btw at the outlet) to do some variety. Honestly I think shorts make me look shorter, unless I wear a daisy duke short, and trust me you don't want to see that

I feel like in the summer I just can't win for the life of me.
