I got a lot of practice in my 20s. If the teachers at my very conservative high school had known just how often one of the school's time-honored traditional requirements for graduation was being used as a drunken party trick, they would have been mortified.

Selu, mine actually has a long story - made in my home ec class, then cut by a jealous girl because I was a sophomore going with a senior and then our pictures turned out AWFUL! My mom found that I still have it when we moved this month and she was mortified. It wasn't cleaned properly afterwards and it discolored but I just can't part with it. SIGH.

That is to funny, I'm sure there are many things teachers have taught us that they were be mortified about now.

          I bet I'm the only one ...

who is her own 3rd cousin (my parents are 1st cousins, yes they knew but they didn't grow up together - only met 1 or 2 times -- still weird and I don't understand it).
whose father-in-law wanted her to get her nose pierced before the wedding
whose step-mother was also her 2nd grade teacher (and formerly her mother's best friend)

you can also add me to the list of never smoked anything. I hung out w/all the "bad kids" (the goth/punk rock version) in high school and spent a lot of time ferrying their stoned butt around but I never partook).

I'm pretty sure DH can still do that.

Sorry Cassy, not quite at a public share point. I admire those who have been able to do that. I'm not one of them. It has been a big deal for me to occasionally allude to it here. In the past I have deleted any reference at a later time. It's too bad it makes others uncomfortable, like they need to rescue (they don't) or like I'm vying for attention (I'm not). I'm working hard with a therapist to own my history and I feel like I have made enough personal progress that I can finally name this and be happy at the same time.

Me too! The only thing I remember is there's a part in there about a holy blissful martyr because I really liked to say the word "martyr" with a ridiculously thick Irish accent (which in my head was close enough to an old English accent)

                    • I've also never mowed a lawn and own shoes that cost over $600.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who
                      - was born in Ukraine
                      - is fluent in Russian
                      - learned to drive at 25

                      • We had an exchange student from Poltava live with us for a year and I took Russian in high school and college. Nowhere near fluent anymore, though.

                        • I am a HUGE pickles fan. I can/do eat them with anything except peanut butter. The same goes for jalapeno peppers!
