  • Everyone here has a/c. You can't even buy a car here without a/c. And if your a/c breaks, you find a way to get it fixed! ha ha! We don't mind the heat because we sit inside our homes with the thermostat set at 77.

I have an irrational fear of stale, recycled air. I open the windows earlier than everyone else in the spring - is it 65? Turn off the heat and bring it on! And I resist the AC until it gets uncomfortably hot and DH insists. I have a pretty wide range of temperature comfort -- which was perfect for Minnesota with its 120 degree temperature difference from winter to summer. I bet I would love living farther south for the better temps year-round, but all the AC would bum me out.

      • Oh Suz!! Looks like a "heat-in" this week. The plus side of heat over snow is that you can still go out and safely drive, etc. The down side is people who shouldn't show Waaaay too much skin in an effort to cool off

And see I didn't even know there were places in the US you could buy cars without a/c?! You really couldn't survive here without it. One of our residents is from Michigan and she drove a motorcycle and sold it after her first summer here because she'd be drenched in sweat every morning by the time she got to work, even at 5AM

          • 104 - Blech! At least I am in the "high plains" and the temp drops 20-30 at night. Problem is, I don't plan on hanging out in my back yard at 2 am.

ETA- I lied. It is 109!

              • I think cars are always a few degrees hotter, especially when they've been sitting out in the sun for awhile

                • Our weather has been pretty atypical. It's like spring and summer got mixed up. We had sunny 90F days in April/May, and now we're having rainy 60F-70F days. Not normal here, at all.

                      • It's the end of June and it has yet to feel hot to us, lol. Anyone who claims that TN has hot summers has never spent a summer in AZ. We are loving the four mild seasons here. The only thing better is the perfect climate of northern CA year round.

                        • Looking at the GMA weather map this morning, it looks like half of the US is drowning and the other is scorching.

Over here we're neither...slightly moist, with showers in the morning but comfortable sunny afternoons, and looking forward to warm weather (70s, *maybe* getting to 80 but I'll believe that when I see it) and clear skies for the next 10 days.
