Crazy! I took the girls to the zoo and just had a t-shirt on. Now we have another "polar vortex" day. With the exception of Sunday, the ten-day is showing highs in the 40s and beyond so that's encouraging.

            • At least it's nice and sunny. I can almost deal with the cold as long as the sun is out

On our one warm day I moved my desk back to the windowy side of the sunroom because I was feeling cramped over on the other side. Big mistake. Now I'm wearing leggings under my jeans and long sleeves under a sweatshirt, drinking hot tea, and still shivering. I've turned into such a wimp in this state.

                • I love that blog post! That's honestly how I feel about seasons - I think there needs to be a little more cut out of summer, spring, and fall to account for all the rain too!

People kept saying things like "don't you miss the seasons" when we lived in PHX. Nope, no I didn't (but I mean they had seasons - all variations of summer: perfect, hot, and then f'ing hell like you never imagined possible). I'd taking f'ing hell like you never imagined possible over polar vortex any day though!!!

                  • See, I really need seasons. There's something about predictable change that I love. At least North Texas has them, but the summer still kills me. I really think I need to live in Tennessee.

Our springtime is gorgeous here. Sunny with blue skies, a little breezy, and warming up. Not hot, but definitely no more snow here in the valley. The mountains, however, still have snow. Particularly, the higher passes.

                      • Three months before getting the hell out of MI I get my first fender bender because of a damn sheet of ice. So over this shit.

                        • I still have a ski vacation planned in late march - I'm hoping for spring to hold off out west (in the mountains) for a little - or at least make a short come back in 2 weeks.

I honestly don't need winter. I love going on vacation for winter and coming back to lows in the 40s. Summers above 100 - eh, those I don't really need. (although I could handle up to 107 just fine in AZ - it's a dry heat, ha!).

People always thought we had lost our minds when we lived in AZ and told them, "Oh, it's less than 110F today. It's comfortable." The fuck...?

I know! Comfort is of course relative... but 120 is NOT comfortable, so something under 110 feels not so bad (in the shade - that sun is no f'ing joke... I got a nasty burn walking to the mailbox the first week we moved there).

I also started to really appreciate spf 100 - I always believed that "anything over 30 is just a waste" thing until I lived there. Nope, not true. spf 100 is WAY different that spf 30. AZ sun pisses on spf 30

                              • That sun is no joke. It's more intense than what I'd experienced previously. After 4 years in the desert, I'm now an avid sunglasses wearer even on relatively cloudy days.
