MrsK, that all sounds delicious!! Twice a week, I help homeschool my friend's 12-year-old son, and we try to do at least one cooking projects per week. Grilled cheese is his favorite food, so whenever we're short on time and can't do something big, we Google "grilled cheese variations." So far we've put macaroni and cheese in between two pieces of bread and grilled that (rather ridiculous, I thought); and also had grilled cheese with apple slices; and also pesto, baby spinach, and herb butter. I put about a T of softened butter in a ramekin, gave the 12yo a 1/4 tsp and 4 jars of herbs to choose from - basil, oregano, thyme, and marjoram - and told him to mix whatever herbs he thought would be good into the butter. I was thinking, to myself, maybe a sprinkle of two of them... silly me! He's 12! He was like, "Let's start with a spoonful of each..." But it actually tasted pretty good.

I wouldn't eat that now, but I would have when I was a kid, for sure. My brother and I ate Doritos dipped in hot chocolate, and we liked Cool Ranch Doritos (do they even make those anymore?) with peanut butter.

Liisi, DH and my BFF and I used to have grilled cheese dinners where we would make a variety and cut them up into little canape sizes and then share. We did roast beef and horseradish cheddar; brie and apple; cheddar and goat cheese with spinach, tomato and avocado; pepperoni, mozzarella and pizza sauce... I could go on and on! They're all awesome. I'm having a hard time coming up with weird foods that I enjoy... but one of my favorite things locally is a restaurant that does "devils on horseback" -- medjool dates stuffed with blue cheese and pickled pear, all wrapped in bacon. I've also had just dates stuffed with blue cheese, that's awesome too.

Last weekend, at the art museum, the cafe's special of the day was some variation on beef wellington which included white chocolate french toast, apricots, foie gras, and mushrooms. I read the menu four times convinced that I was reading about two different dishes but it was all together. I couldn't order it.

Pasta noodles with ranch dressing and mozzarella cheese and bacon bits if we had any - this was my go to for dinner before we had kids when I knew DH wouldn't be home. I still sneak it now and then.

Oh, and I don't know if this qualifies as a combination, but its definitely weird. I LOVE raw potatoes.

Dd eats broccoli and ham in her scrambled eggs. I'm trying to hit all food groups whenever I can with her, because she is a poor eater!

Be careful you don't eat any with a green tinge! Actually all raw potatoes, but particularly those with a green tinge, contain a toxin that can make you sick.

Is that because they are in the nightshade family?

                            Not sure... Dr. Google sez:
Raw potatoes, especially if they are tinted green in some areas, contain high amounts of a chemical called solanine. This occurs in potatoes as a natural defense against insects. Unfortunately, it can cause problems in humans as well. If you consume even just one large green-tinged raw potato, you can experience symptoms such as headaches, nausea and even neurological issues.

ETA: I cant really imagine anyone eating an entire large raw potato...

                              Dr. Google is a fear-monger

According to livestrong.com, WGW is correct. Although it just talks about green or sprouted taters being bad.
