So we're learning about "Family" at school this week and the kids were washing the baby dolls in the water table. Three of the 4yr old boys were washing two boy dolls (anatomically correct) and one girl doll. J says, "We are washing the boy dolls because we don't like the girls." To which E replys, "Yeah that's right." Then the boy who had the girl doll says, "I'm washing a girl, no I'm washing the boy!" To which James replys, "Ha ha, yea WE are washing the girls because girls have a penis and boys.....(now thinking really hard)" E helps him out with, "Don't". Good observation boys!

We're also going through the boy/girl thing with our soon-to-be three year old. Aidan is so surprsied that Zoe is missing an important piece of anatomy and he comments on it everytime she has a bath...then he runs around talking about the gender of all of his family members. Papa is a boy, Andrew is a boy....blah, blah, blah. He doesn't assign me a gender, so last week I finally said "and I'm a girl too"

He turned to me and said "You're not a girl...you're my mommy"

I thought about this post this morning and had to enter this one.....
Our 9 YO son had to get needles this morning for Hepatitis B and Chicken Pox. As he was getting ready for school I reminded him about them and that he would oinly have to get one as he has already had chicken pox. I just got an interesting telephone call from school.....

"Hello, this is Mrs so and so, I 'm the public heath nurse and I have Mark here with me"
          "OK, hello"
"Umm, Mark tells me that he has Hepatitis and won't be requiring and needles today"

            Fantastic!

It seems you guys had a flurry of these while I was in NY and I never read them.

Nellie - Anna and Quinn either MUST get together one day, or must NEVER, EVER see each other. I still haven't decided if it would be fantastic or a worlds-colliding kind of thing.

Jane - Matthew is adorable - and right. His Mummy IS cool.

Today while all hyped up on chocolate from the festival, the boys were really, REALLY loud in the car. I scolded them several times ... 'no need to yell' ... 'playing in great, but not so loud', etc.

Jacob finally says "But Mom! That's what it's all about!"

To which I said "Okay Laura, but you're giving me a headache." (My mom used to tell me that 'It's no fun unless you scream.' We were talking about rollercoasters at the time, but she also said it about life in general.)

These are a riot! Okay, my turn.

DS is TWO today!!! Holy Cow....

                    Recent quotes from DS:
                    • Mommy (pointing to penis) why I have two bellybuttons?
Mommy I sure like you a lot.
I am so tall! Almost as tall as Daddy (who is 6'5")!

He also likes to order for himself when we eat out. That is hilarious.

DD will be FOUR on Thursday!!!!

                    Recent DD quotes:
                    • Mom, if I wanted to be a whale trainer I need to be a good swimmer. I need more lessons okay?
I really like princesses but it's not really a job, is it?
Mom do you still have birthdays?
I will do it if it is MY idea and NOT YOURS!!!

They never cease to amaze me!!!!!!!

                      Too cute!

Flynn, I just read that your son turns two today. Wow, it seems like just a while ago he was born. Plus, he sounds really cute to boot! Happy Birthday to DS and DD.

Thanks. We put the party animals to bed a little over an hour ago and I'm spent.

We get to do it all again on Thursday with DD -- and Saturday is the party we're having for the kids but also so we can meet some cool adults!

                        He was a riot today.
I just adore him. What a love.

DD just learned to say 'bless you'. Yesterday in the car she kept repeating to herself 'Bess you Natie (bless you Natalie)' over and over.

So my son told me yesterday " mommy I don't love you...I adore you"
I asked where did that come from??! He said daddy taught me that!

                                On gender...

I watch another resident's son a few days a week. The first time DD watched me change his diaper, she tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Mom? What kind of vagina is THAT?"
