  • The Ergo itself. I got black, but it's just such an ugly carrier to me. I swore I'd never get one. Especially compared to the Beco.

    • Ooooh I like that one V! ST how does it compare to the Ergo? I'd consider that one instead.

      • I haven't used it but it seems very similar. I like it

Works just like an ergo! I didn't even new the manual because all the connectors are just like it. It isn't as hot as an ergo.

            • Well that one's actually cute! I'm not sure if I could talk DH into wearing it though. lol. He actually uses the carriers alot.

I think I might return it and get the one V has. I like that I could put it in the diaper bag. I used to have this, which I loved. It was great support and small, but I lost it and don't want to spend the money again. http://www.bellebabycarriers.com/

              • With kid number two, I'd like to get a second because DH and I need very different adjustments and we use the ergo a lot. While I really want the one Pollyanna has, I will probably get the one vgirl linked because it is super small and portable and looks better for hot Texas summers

                • We have a cheapo Infantino carrier that served its purpose but is no longer useful now that she's getting bigger. What styles can I use for kiddos.

How many pounds does the ergo hold and can you only hold baby facing in?

                  • Not sure of the weight limit (I think 40)- but Ergos are only meant for the kid facing you. They claim it's because then they can turn away from excessive stimulation. I like the side carry option on the Ergo

                    • I like my mei tai because the high back carry is a lifesaver for me. I can't cook with her in front, I'm too worried about her grabbing a pot or a knife.

I would highly recommend anything that allows a high back carry. I don't like how low the Ergo back carry is.

                      • To clairify I meant one that's for your side or back. She likes facing out in front but I think she would tolerate facing in on my hip or back if she could see.

Gotcha! Ergos can be used on your front, back, or side, but the babe always faces "in" to the parent's body. The back carry is pretty low for a little one, though!

                          • I have a Beco Butterfly which has a 45 lbs weight limit but it only does forward facing you or back carry. The Beco Gemini can do forward facing, facing you, hip and back carry and has a 35 lbs weight limit. At two DS doesn't like to be carried much anymore and hasn't reached 35 lbs yet so I wish I gotten that one since it has more options. I used to use a sling for a hip carry when I'd do things like vacuum. He liked that around the house better, but my shoulder would get sore after a while.

                            • So the Mei Tai would be a higher back carry than the ergo? Would there be anything higher?

And if I go with the mei tai do I get the "original" one or will a knock off work?

Mei tai is completely adjustable since it's a strap you tie around you. You can do low or high back carries. I do DD in a high back carry high enough that she can see over my shoulders.

                                Knock off works just fine.
