  • I like the moby but it is hard to wrap when I'm out. I hate struggling with it in parking lots and worrying about dragging the ends in puddles. I like my ergo the best of all I've tried but I think it will be easier once we don't need the infant insert any more. Also looking forward to the end of winter so I don't have to deal with layers of clothing over or under the carrier.

    • I've heard the k'tan is like the Moby but without the wrapping.

      • I love the K'tan for the infant stages and then the Mei Tai.

        • Can you also use the Mei Tai for the infant stage? I'm really hoping to avoid the Moby altogether this time around.

          • Yes you can. I used both the Mei Tai and Moby from day one, but did prefer the Moby when she was super tiny.

            • Yes, you just roll down the Mei tai and can use for an infant. There's some good videos on YouTube for it. Look for infant/Mei tai and you'll find it.

              • And something funny about the Moby. Mine is coral and so sometimes I would have it on while holding E or while she was in the carrier. People totally thought it was part of my outfit. Ummmm no.

The ergo infant insert is way too hot for baby, where we currently live.

FWIW, I only used the insert for a few weeks and Lambie was 5lb7oz. The insert is a pita.

                      • I think I have a size 4 Hotslings pouch around here somewhere. I also used a ring sling a lot in the heat. My ring sling is a red Leo Storch. So a thicker fabric. And I have another stretch of that fabric that is rebozo sized.

                        • I might still have my ring sling. It is a light weight woven cotton with no stretch.

                          • The Boba 3G/4G doesn't need an insert to wear infants. I didn't get mine until E was 3-4 months old, but she was still really tiny.

                            • I thought about buying a Boba, but we already have two ergo carriers, so I decided against it.

I had an infantino sling, but did not care for it. DH purchased the peanut shell last pregnancy, but didn't have me fitted, so it's always been too small. I just forgot, until I pulled both the sling and the pocket pouch out!

                              • Ooh hey, good timing... We're just starting to look at registry items and I'm thinking of putting on a Moby, a Maya Wrap, and an Ergo. First, am I crazy to put three different kinds on my registry? Second, will these three get me through a good range of situations from newborn through toddler? I was thinking about a K'Tan instead of a Moby but they are sized based on the wearer and I don't want to have to get 2 for me and DH. DH and I are both medium to tall (5'9" and 6'0") with thin to medium builds. I see that a lot of you like Mei Tais, would that replace one of the three I have listed? And why would it be better? Am I missing anything? Obviously we are beginners, so the Moby is about the most "challenging" one I'd like to try at first. I could see trying a woven later if I REALLY love it. The first-time grandparents to be are chomping at the bit for a registry, so I want to figure this out early.
