  • I haven't tried Nutrisystem, but I do a lot of Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine meals. They're my go-to for lunch and for some suppers when DH is working. It's really easy, and I have found several that I really like. Is there a week-long trial you could get without too much commitment?

Did well exercising with a friend this morning. We did elliptical for 40 minutes then weights for about 20-30 minutes. Not really sure what happened, but while I was doing the pull up machine, I got a sudden headache at the back of my head, so I guess I did something to a nerve? Weird. I didn't do any more, but I hope I can go back to them next week. I really like doing those.

    • Walked a major theme park today, carrying/wearing the baby. That has to count for something, right? 😂

I tried paleo a couple years ago for 30 days. I did lose weight, but it also ended up making me lactose intolerant (I know we all are a bit anyways but....). It was too restrictive for me to maintain, and requires a lot of cooking with odd items, which makes grocery shipping and cooking more difficult (things I already try to avoid).
I was thinking nutrisystem might be just like smart ones/ lean cuisine, but that's a good point, what if they aren't tasty? It's $9-11 a day for 3 meals and 2 snacks, so by nyc standards is cheap. I'm thinking I'll debate it for a week and decide. I feel like I just need to be healthier and eating more balanced meals. I'm also carrying at least 10 lbs that push me to the overweight limit.

          • 1 mile run with the HIIT/body weight exercise class today.

Didn't get enough, so got out the TRX and worked on deep squats, back and arms. Found a 4 pack of tricep targeting exercises, and nearly died. 😄 I knew they were weak, but wow.

I know I need the isolated muscle group work, because certain body weight exercises (e.g. push-ups) are still really challenging for me. I can do around 12-15 full out, before needing to rest. One of my goals this new year is to work up to 25-30 before needing a break.

                  • Feeling disappointed in myself. I've gained 7lbs over the month of December. Feeling much dread getting back to calorie counting and constant hunger.

                    • Don't worry too much, ides! My weight can fluctuate like crazy due to sodium levels, PMS, retaining water from workouts, etc. Maybe pound some water and veggies/lean protein and weigh again after the New Year? Give yourself a chance to even out.

Well, it looks like you've done it! What inspired you? Nice, consistent pace during your intervals. What was holding you back, the crummy weather, or the fact you don't take running buddies for your interval workout, or the fact that the interval workout is so intense?

See, I can only do about 5 before switching to my knees! Keep it up - you're doing great!!

It's been quite a physical few days on the chainsaw after the storm. Working in the woods is slow heavy work, a different rhythm to running. Glad I dragged myself out now it's done and I'm definitely feeling the pace better. In the bank!

Lol DH is getting back into cycling. He built his own carbon bike in college. And now it's "old" and there are all these fun electronic shifters and I had to shut that down quick! So he and the kids fixed his instead. It's still a really really nice bike!

He is promised a really nice bike when he's an attending.

As for me, I actually got up this morning at 5am and went to running class. It's 3 min running/1 min walking intervals and we did 5 miles. I'm gonna die and it isn't the best to jump in so quickly but it feels good!
