Size 10 is wonderful. I hover between a 10 and a 12. 12s are more comfortable now after the holidays but I have equal number of size 10 jeans in my drawer. (They mock me each morning.) I'd love to be an 8. I was a size 8-10 in high school so it hasn't changed that much. I was a size 6 in college. Unbelievable to me now. In college, I only had to worry about me, me, me. I devoted free time to exercise and ate healthy foods I liked when I got hungry. Let's face it: living with families makes it a lot harder to be thin.

It's weird - I am the same weight I was at my healthiest, fittest self (but body still looks completely different!). Child bearing and nursing really do change things, every time. I feel "doughy" even though I know I'm getting stronger. Some days, I don't care and feel good - other days, I see my weird midsection and soft post-nursing breasts and I feel grossly inadequate.
Count me as one of those that has to work 'til she drops for it to change.
Being a woman is hard sometimes.

Gosh I feel like I could've written so much of what was said in the last page. I had been in the 8-10 range for several years post kids and then slowly crept up to a size 12. Last winter I refused to buy size 12 jeans so I lived in yoga pants and leggings and justified it by saying there was no point in buying pants I wasn't going to need soon. Well that plan absolutely backfired because by wearing a stretchy waistband I completely lost sight of reality. This fall I broke down and bought the damn size 12 jeans but only two pairs because I vowed to get back to the ample selection of 8-10's. Then I got a Fitbit for Christmas which forced me to weigh myself which I had actively avoided doing for over a year. I'm shocked and so disappointed that I managed to gain over 20 pounds last year. Clearly slacking off in my twenties is less detrimental than slacking off in my thirties. I know things need to change but I feel like I'm so addicted to food and really do not enjoy exercising. Bad combo. It's so hard. I think Angie is right about having to completely dedicate an entire year to fitness. Maybe this is the year.Charlene~Married to an attending Ophtho Mudphud and Mom to 2 daughters

So this is one of my good friends from when I lived in NC. She's not the reason I've come to the conclusions I have the last couple months, but my personal yoga teacher is. Jessamyn is an incredible woman, even before she started doing yoga. Now of course she's stronger, physically & I suppose...spiritually...than I am. It gives me chills to see how many people she's inspired.

The year of fitness hasn't happened, but maybe it's coming for me.
Don't despair though - it can be done. It just takes total focus on diet, grocery shopping and multiple daily gym visits that most busy mothers can't fit in their life.

You really have to make it your life. You plan your meals a week in advance, you hang out with people who eat and exercise like you do, you find an activity hobby and spend hours a week on it, and you track everything. I sometimes feel like I discourage people who ask me what I've been doing and how they can do it, because instead of giving the "Easy - I just ate less and moved more" answer, I tell them "It's been hard. Don't do it until you're sure you're ready." I had so many false starts with weight loss, losing and gaining about 10 lbs, that I thought I'd never get there. Once I was mentally and financially able to commit to it, and my schedule could accommodate it, it hasn't been "easy", but it hasn't been as hard as those first 10 lbs that I kept revisiting in the past.
You will get there!!! See above - I never thought I'd get back down to a 10, and 8 just kind of happened after that. Probably won't be a 6 either, but I like my body at an 8.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)

SoonerTexan and scrub-jay, didn't you guys just have babies 5 minutes ago?
Seriously, though I get it. I'm pretty sure I wrote a similar post after my second was born this summer. It's so frustrating because you look at your body and want it to be something else. G is 7 months and I'm still annoyed with my body, (even though I'm down some weight).
Can you do small changes? Healthier food around the house, more water, more fruits and veggies? I do think with each kiddo your body hangs on to pounds and water weight a little longer. I just worry that you are both putting so much pressure on yourselves SO soon and you have 3 babes to care for as well!
I just got the fitbit and am having fun playing with it and trying to figure out the new ww.

But, even if you're not able to make a big commitment, every little bit helps! You might not lose weight, but if you're moving and eating healthier, you'll probably feel better and better appreciate what your body can do, making you more comfortable in your skin.Laurie

And I really want to fit into some clothes :/
OrangeTheory isn't doing their weight loss challenge this year damnit...that was a huge motivator for me last year. But I did get a refund on the running class and will try again later.Last edited by SoonerTexan; 01-03-2016, 11:58 PM.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

10 minute mile today, with single stroller at moderate pace. Doing 3 miles today, 2 walking, and the TRX.
I feel like I can't talk about this stuff on Facebook because it will look like humble bragging: I'm excited to do more, but still need to work out a solution to the stress incontinence if I want to push the pace and distance. I'm going to try your product find, @spottydog.
I'm thinking I could do 2 miles at a time without being wiped, but the bladder issue would get me.
The new plan is to add a run/walk training combo of 3 miles on T/Th and grab in a TRX set on those evenings to condition core/arms/back. I'm hoping additional core work improves the incontinence issue somewhat.
