      • After a week off running I headed over the hill behind the house with DW. 8 hilly miles later I'm ready to flop and not move again all day!!

        • So, my kids are at my parents' so I have all the time in the world to do a long run today. And I kind of need the mileage because my overall volume for this week is down. But my training schedule this week suggests doing a (actual timed) 5k "to test your fitness and predict your finishing time in the half marathon." I figure I could do one of two things. I could drive down to a flat 5 mile course and try to PR my time around it, kind of approximating the 5k thing but with getting a little more mileage. Or, I could just go out and do a long run with the distance somewhere between last week's 6 miles and next week's 7 miles.

Any input? What would you do, oh experienced racers?

          • I would do a warm up mile, race the 5k distance and then cool down for a mile.

Got a 50 minute run in today with my littlest (DHs aunt took the kids bc she's in town for a rare visit). The scale will NOT budge so clearly I need to up my mileage.

            • Yeah, that is an option I considered too, though I did that just a month ago. But it would be fun to try again but on a flat course, I might be able to shave a few seconds off. And I guess I can try for the 5 mile PR when the schedule says 10k race in three weeks.

Edit: I ended up doing all of the above, LOL. I knocked a minute off my 5k, knocked about 4 minutes off my loop course, and when I was back to my car I was still feeling good so I extended it a bit to make it total a 6 mile "long run".

              • First real week of summer vacation, test-driving my motivation and ability to work out when I have the kids home all day. I had a good night's sleep last night, so it was no hardship to get up early to go running and still be back in time for DH to get in a 2 hour bike ride before work. W00t!

                • I have my half Ironman in a month. I've really just been doing tons of walking since my half marathon. Too many other things taking priority and I'm just not feeling it. There's an option to just do aqua bike (swim, bike, no run). So I'm thinking I'll just do that. I rode 30 miles Friday and Monday. Gotta get myself to the pool!

                  • I think I got my Garmin working!

DH called me because I was still finishing my run at 9pm. "Does it really take you that long"

Yes dear. It does. He felt bad later haha!

                    • Averaging 2x weights a week, some Pilates, yoga, and one (only one) HIIT class.

Still having weird feet issues: got checked out by ortho, and no structural issues found via X-ray or exam. Doing a trial of Mobic.
If no help, then possibly being referred to neuro (and facing my fear of hereditary, non-specific peripheral neuropathy.) 😕

Oh man, I hope the Mobic does the trick.

I'm doing BodyPump 3x per week and liking it. I continue to be in awe of the retirees killing it in class. Very inspiring. I would love to add some cardio but it's not happening until DH is living in the same town.

                        • I did a short circuit workout in my cul de sac at 7:30 AM with all my children with me. C and D ran around with me for a while giggling like maniacs. They got bored quickly though so it only lasted 16 minutes but better than nothing I guess.

Pretty sure my neighbors now know I'm certifiably insane.

                          • Running at noon whilst apparently dehydrated was a poor choice. Walking it in. Ugh.

                              • ST your mileage is really getting up there! How does it feel?

My knee started tweaking a mile before the end of today's run so I stretched a lot and bowed out of going for a long hike with the boys at lunch time. Still went for an hour hike with DD in the rain, so I think I am justified to sit on my butt the rest of this afternoon!
