          • Happy birthday K1!

Spotty - put that kid in ballet!

Today we had our last Sugar Plum Fairy Tea of 2012. My feet hurt. My van carried props, giant lollipops, big candies, and dancers today. My muscles are sore. M's friend fell during their party girl dance. Her mom had left her in my care and my heart hurt for her as she fought the tears after the dance. I pulled her aside for a pep talk and mom hug/kiss to keep her going the rest of the tea.

            • Oh V - that sort of thing is so hard.

A month or so ago, one of the 3rd graders in C's karate class did not pass his belt test on to the next level. He was DEVASTATED, big huge crocodile tears for the last few minutes of class. He also goes to C's regular school, so we see him a lot. I felt so badly for the little guy.

But at the same time, it is a learning opportunity on how to deal with disappointment and how to recover with grace and dignity.

Definitely! Her mom is the jazz teacher so she knows that theses things happen. She was able to hold back tears (and not mess up her make-up). She's in a good group of dancers (they pray before performing and are pretty supportive of each other).

                  • Today is day 1 of 3 of daddy daycare. She got Nutella and bananas for breakfast. Then "they" plan to go disc golfing and shopping for Christmas presents. And lots of video games. DH is trying to think of a way to take her golfing. I bet I come back to a trashed house but a happy toddler. This will be good for them.

I realized this weekend if we play our cards right DH could do full time childcare from the end of med school through the beginning of residency...with a 2 year old and potentially a newborn. Hehehe

DH did this (with only one child obviously). Before we had DD, he was like, I'm going to be SO bored packing up the house and babysitting (we moved when she was 18 weeks). After the first week where he did virtually NOTHING except laundry and barely got dinner to the table, his tune changed!

It was extremely healthy for him to be the primary caregiver for a while. I highly recommend it.

I think we might try it early next year. Creative dance for 3-4s is just one Tuesday night a week.

                          • Today, I added up my end of the year costs/profits for my etsy shop and discovered that I made a profit. Yay! Then I found out that my "profit" will offset the cost of a new alternator for our car and a dental crown for me. boo -- but yay that we can cover the unexpected expenses -- but boo that I cannot spend it on something fun or even add it to our savings. I'm feeling so conflicted.
