Today, a friend and I took K1 and her 3yo out for a walk in my friend's neighborhood. The children began running through some thick hedges and trees along the edge of someone's yard. My friend's daughter had run through that hedge a million times and stuck to a path she knew so my friend waited calmly at the opening where her daughter always exits. I glimpsed K1 running full speed through the bushes, attempting to climb trees, and cutting an entirely different path. I began running too and caught him in mid-air just as he flew off the top of a hill, moments before his teeth would have hit the sidewalk. I'm sure it's a metaphor for something but, really, I was just happy to get a high five from my friend. How come there are always a zillion people around when my kid is behaving destructively and I’m helpless to stop it but no one sees it when I catch him in mid-air?
Also, took K1 to nature class where they had live owls that we could get really close to. It was so cool.
