      • I need a lease! IDK where we are living and I've done hardly anything to prepare for the move.

        • Today, my favorite animal control officer (who likes us!) came by to tell me that someone has complained TWICE in the last few days (anonymously, of course) about the chickens.
The chickens run loose in my yard and my neighbor's yard (sanctioned by them, and everyone in our 'hood), so I have no idea who's been calling. She said the person just complains that they're out... Um, if they are in my yard, how the hell are they out?
I may have to build a chicken tractor next week before the conference, and I am not pleased.

            • Thirteen I'll help you build a chicken tractor while I'm there if you'd like and we can wheel it around the neighborhood and park it in all the chicken hating neighbors' yards and when they complain say "but they're contained! Just like you wanted!"

                • I saw on Facebook you used low VOC---what kind was it? I'd like to when I paint the living room soon, but the stuff I've seen is so dang pricy

                  • We used the Harmony paint from Sherwin Williams - they're having a huge sale right now and all the paint is 40% off, plus the supplies are 30% off.

ETA: Also - if you create an account at SW, you always get 10% off.

                    • Hmm must google. I usually use Behr, but if the price is somewhat equal I could color match.

Then Id be using a Ben Moore color in a Sherwin Williams paint that I tested in Behr...

                        • Any water-based paint is low-VOC. The expensive shit that they advertise as low-VOC has marginally fewer solvents. The biggest difference is that manufacturers omit the smellier additives so it doesn't stink as much. Water-based latex paints have almost no solvents. The smell is usually from various additives that make the paint perform better or make it easier to use.

                          • BTW - I worked with paint all through my first two pregnancies with no problems. Unless you are breathing with your head halfway in a can of "hot" solvent-based product (lacquer, shellac, toluene, xylol), you're fine.

                            • So is the SW Harmony not worth it?

                              • I did help paint all of our shutters with regular latex paint and was fine (we had good ventilation), and I got other stuff that's not low VOC for some furniture and our front door. Partly, the paint we normally get wasn't included in the sale, so this was good quality stuff that we got at a good price.
