  • Unless you have a major aversion to the smell or an allergy, it's typically not worth the increased cost to buy paint that's harder to use and doesn't work as well.

      • I'm sitting at the breakfast table listening to my boys chatter. It sounds like a discussion between lunatics.

        K2: (babbling)
        K1: Let's trade spoons!
        K2: Look at his toes!
K1: I pooped in the potty!
        K2: I want that book!
K1: I'm wearing a black shirt; his shirt is white.
        K2: Banana peel! Traaaaaash!!!!

            • Today I saw this Facebook page created to help pass a bond measure to replace the high school in my hometown. It's so sad that the building is in such a bad state. This is a very, very poor community, and I know it's hard to convince them to choose to pay more in taxes, but the kids there need to know that they're worth it. Just awful. It was bad when I was there, but nowhere near this level of disrepair.

              • Today my cousin's house burned down completely. She, her husband, and her two kids all made it out safely. Only things left intact were a few crosses on the wall, some Bibles, and a quilt that her grandmother made. They think it was either electrical or caused by her Scentsy plugin. I feel pretty lame for being upset about my half stolen house right now.

                • Wow. That is awful. And I will think twice about leaving my Scentsy stuff plugged in all the time now.

That's terrible. And so scary... I was cleaning the other day and touched a power strip and found that the cord and plug to one of our window AC units was blazing hot... It made me go around the apartment touching all the other plugs to see if anything else felt hot. Everything else seemed good, but now we need a new window unit because I don't feel safe using that one. So, so scary.

                      • I need to visit this thread more often! Yarn, I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin! At least they're all safe but holy cow, that must have been seriously traumatizing.

                        • Today was my kid-free day. I've been up for 13 hours and have accomplished roughly half what I set out to do. Bah. I feel like I was productive though (DEEP cleaned the upstairs bathrooms, got the downstairs bathroom trim almost prepped for primer).

Today I learned what baby fawns sound like when they are scared out of their gourds and/or hurt.

Today for dinner, which I will start when DH phones to tell me he's started the 45 minute commute home, I'm making local naturally-raised pork chops with homegrown sage, homegrown broccoli salad, and probably sauteed homegrown green beans. Yum!

                          • Today I changed out the ceiling fan in C's room because one of the pull cords broke. Pissed me off and I needed my dad to help me install the dang thing.

Ceiling fan installation is one of those tasks that Satan has people do in hell. Never fails to be a disaster. You have my sympathies!

It wouldn't have been too bad, except for the fact that the electrical boxes in the house are, um, "vintage" and do not match the size of the mounting bracket.
