  • I'm getting him crutches now. He had X-rays and there is a small fracture. One caused by the ligament pulling a little chip of bone out (can't remember the term for the fracture - starts with an e I think - and he's in the car). He's being referred to an orthopedist. The upside is he gets a temporary handicap pass! He won't be able to drive until the swelling goes down. It's crazy swollen.

      • I can't remember much specifics about alvulsion fxs, but I want to say it likely be non-op, but don't quote me.

        • Today, I feel rotten. Migraine, baby sickness, achy all over. Yuck. However, I was just approved for admission to another Bar. Just have to swear in and I'll be official. (Then I can put all of my licenses on inactive status and stop paying dues. WooHoo!)

          • Today, youngest BIL is moving into college. He is so nervous that he feels faint...I'm sure MIL isn't helping matters!

Hoping not. We got the referral but, of course, in true DH fashion he "doesn't have time" to call and set up an appt today. What's more important: studying for micro, or addressing an injury that causes you tons of pain and renders you unable to walk/reliant on crutches? If you chose "your own personal health/comfort", you'd be wrong! Anyway, I don't know what they'd be able to do for it anyway but the can't do much until the swelling goes down. Right now he's just got it iced and propped up and the crutches are incredibly helpful.

                • I have my cranky pants on today (as DH says...), for no really good reason.

My mom sent me a birthday present that isn't returnable, refundable or transferable, not knowing that I already had one. So now I feel bad that she wasted her money and that I told her she shouldn't give me cash because "I would just spend it on bills"... I could really use that $$ for bills and I know she could too. Now I feel kind of sorry for both of us.

On the brighter side, DH had his last day of surgery today, and he takes his first shelf (Family Med) tomorrow. Rotations have been pretty easy going so far. That makes me worry that we will be in for a shock when residency starts, but for now I'll take it!

Hearing that, especially knowing that he's already been through the surgery rotation, brightened MY day. That's some good news - here's hoping our program ends up treating us similarly.

Sorry about the cranky pants day and seemingly 'wasted' money...I have those days too and yeah, it's harder to look on the bright side of "the thought that counts" when you know the $$ spent could have been used more wisely for both parties involved.

                    • Today I saw a lady in the grocery store (Kroger - I never go to Kroger other than to buy gas) pick ugly strawberries from one carton and swap them with pretty ones from another carton. Ick!

His Surg 1 rotation had a few later nights and 12+ hour days, but nothing too bad. Most days he was home by dinner-ish. Even if he did fall asleep on the couch at 10 every night! Surg 2 was a specialty with crazy early morning hours and home well before dinner every night with time to study in the evening. I'm afraid surgery hasn't been hard enough on him to totally turn him off!! I know everyone's experience is different, but don't be too afraid of 3rd year. It's not so bad.
