One of the doctors at our hospital just came back from Germany with a fever and a cough. She is on a home quarantine and is waiting to be tested. I hope she didn’t send her daughter to school. She goes to SJP with Zoe.

We’ve bought two houses now without actually ever seeing them in person. It’s worked out well for us but I’ve always found it extra stressful.

We have a trip planned in a few weeks to travel to DC for my BILs wedding. My in-laws who live outside Seattle are thinking of canceling which is making DH consider having us not go either.

E's school has been closed since Friday, and it will stay closed until after Spring Break (next week). Vanderbilt has moved all classes online for the remainder of the semester, asked all students to move out by March 15, and recommended social distancing through April 30 (so I'll be working from home, most likely).

I've successfully cut back all shopping to a once-weekly excursion, and today was the day. The run on certain products is no joke. Toilet paper, rubbing alcohol, nitrile and latex gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes are all cleared off the shelf with nothing but a sign saying "per-customer purchases of this item are limited." I scored a thing of Clorox wipes and a can of Lysol spray. Later I went to Walgreens and snagged their last bottle of Lysol Clean & Fresh (which is EPA approved as a coronavirus disinfectant.) I have to say I'm relieved to have them.

Our schools are hiring more custodians and buying more disinfectant cleaners (with what money? Our district is broker than broke.) They're also limiting outside use of their facilities in order to reduce the strain on the custodians. We're worried this means that all our PTA events are cancelled for the foreseeable future. My fellow PTA board members are still rolling their eyes at this and joking about "self quarantine". I'm just looking at events unfolding in Italy...my daughter is furious with the virus for depriving her of all the "big events" at school (like a movie night and a writing conference) so she has "nothing to look forward to". I've tried to assure her they are only going to be postponed, not canceled. I'm not completely convinced we'll be back to anything like normal before June, though.

It's been a while since I've been this anxious on just a continual basis. Hoping for some more data to let me figure out WTF to think about anything and everything.

Well I know they cancelled campus tours because my MIL and SIL flew out there yesterday and weren't able to do one!

My latest concern is that my SIL is having her second baby in Mexico in May. My MIL and FIL are supposed to be visiting but he’s diabetic and they’re nearly 70. This is such a bad idea but they’re not smart enough to cancel themselves. Hoping they cancel all international travel.

DH is supposed to have vacation next week. The actual only vacation he'd have all year as the other two got eaten up with reapplying and interviewing. He's worried that it will get cancelled or shortened due to staff shortages. I'm so sad for him if that happens. He really, really needs a break.

Public university in town is finishing up this week then going on a 2 week Spring Break. My U is on SB this week and just got the email saying it will be extended a second week. But get this, faculty and staff are still required to come to work. They said this is what the CDC suggests. Seriously? Not that I will, there's zero oversight with my job but that's messed up. Also, I hope they're figuring out how to hold class remotely because if they really think things will be better on March 23 they are sorely mistaken. So stupid.

I'm glad to see big events being cancelled because we've seen at least two people ignore the CDCs orders to stay home after having a family member test positive or they themselves test positive (New Hampshire person who went to a mixer after being released from the Hospital and St. Louis man who took his daughter to daddy-daughter dance when he knew his other daughter had it). All of this seems unreal as it unfolds. I work for the second largest City in our state and we're currently working on our City's response. I'm expecting all essential employees will be permitted to work from home soon.

They cancelled all work travel for DH until April 15, and no grand rounds until at least May. I'm curious if they will start limiting non-emergent patient visits or try and implement more tele-doc services.

I know some people think the country is over reacting, but Italy has shown us that if we wait to react it will already be too late.

Anyone else think Trump's prohibition on European travel in to the US seems weird? I mean why the hell weren't we monitoring people coming in from countries before (fever, cough) and asking them to self-quarantine 3 weeks ago? But we'll still allow Americans to travel to China? I feel like it was an attempt to take action but a poorly thought out one? Anyone else?

Our school district just sent out an email telling us to reconsider travel during spring break, make plans for childcare when school resumes just in case, and that the school is making an eLearning plan in the event that the schools close.

Zoe’s school has been cancelled tomorrow while they practice the online school system. We have a few cases in our county.

Our County Public Health Dept just advised our soccer club to cancel all practices indefinitely if we can't guarantee the kids won't maintain a 6 foot bubble of "social distancing". Well...it's a contact sport. But also...the kids are already spending 7 hours a day together at school.

Except...the governor and state superintendent of public instruction are giving a press conference in an hour. I have a feeling school closures are coming down the pike. I'll be shocked if we're in session next week.
