We have a grown-up weekend coming up with our best friends! My parents are keeping our kids, and their parents are keeping theirs. We're getting a hotel and going to Oktoberfest (in a suburb of Dallas)! I am ridiculously excited about this!!

WOW. A few months ago they started transitioning the weekend call schedule in DH's program from Friday morning - Sunday morning to Friday morning - Sunday at 4:00pm. I've been pretty pissed because call weekends are EXHAUSTING. Coming off of a long week and then as it always turns out, working all day and most of the night all weekend just to go back to work on Monday? Sucks. Up until this point his schedule has been about Q3. But now I see why the longer call weekends are cool. He's now practically Q7!! What the hell am I going to do with him home all the time??

Don't shoot me ladies.

Singing the praises: we bought a Roku. We have a subscription to Netflix/Amazon Instant Video, and I found a private channel that gives you network channels streaming live (USTV Now).

E survived with hubby and my dad! Hubby did get called in tonight, so I'm glad was here as backup. Most importantly, I had so much fun!! Totally worth using some of my precious pumped milk.

This weekend DH had his first real day off since August 18 (including being on backup call all last week). It's been so nice having him around! Only two calls this week and one the next, then vacation!

I got excused from jury duty! I was supposed to be available for two weeks starting tomorrow, and although DH just happens to be off most of these weeks and could technically have gotten the kids on the bus or taken care of DD most days, it would have sucked pretty royally to spend his time off that way. So, I'm free!! I still hope I get to do jury duty some day...maybe when they're old enough to latch-key it a bit?

I waited for YEARS to get called for jury duty...finally got notice when I was 39 weeks pregnant with my first. I got called again a couple years ago, but was able to get out of it because *someone* has to watch the kids.
