  • I just hate that one thing gets all the attention at anytime. Breast cancer and HIV being the two biggest culprits IMO.

How about that funding for medical research keeps getting cut to the tune of billions!!! This ALS challenge is great for the money it has raised, but what's next?

Muscular Dystrophy jump over a bush challenge? Huntington's Disease eat 10 hot dogs challenge? I'm just worried about the snowball effect here. Causes get left in the cold. People get burned out.

The best thing we can do is vote for people who make medical research funding a priority!

    End rant.

    • I once heard someone with a rare disease say that they hoped someone famous would get it (think Michael J Fox and Parkinson's) because it would bring in all the money.

Completely agree about breast cancer and HIV. The funding is outsize for the scope of the problem.

Maybe offer him some gum? A mint?

The other day I casually asked hubby if he was still using his natural deodorant (I never liked the stuff - it didn't work). He asked why, if he smelled, because he couldn't smell it. I felt bad, but I told him he smelled like BO. He finally switched back to the regular deodorant, and it's so much better!

            • I'm blunt. I'd just be like, "brush your teeth, babe." He'll say back, "well, your breath stinks too!" We both go brush and then make out.

              • Since the crown is just the cap over the tooth stump, I'm not sure how that would help. You'd think they'd have gotten the decay before the temp filling. I suppose they will drill the whole thing down before the crown, so,maybe it will help.

I'd tell him that a friend (me) told you that her dentist recommended a lot of mouthwash swishing when she got her crowns after old fillings failed because it helped kill any external bacteria that might lead to more troubles in nearby teeth. It gets in all the crannies of the mouth and helps a lot with cutting down more decay issues and more crowns. Also good for preventing gum disease. He could try the peroxide rinses for that. I

                Poor guy. But also...poor you!

                • Yeah, I'd recommend lots of mouthwash and a tongue scraper.

                            • This isn't really a confession though it's certainly not a rant. I'm ready to go home. My flight isn't until 12:45 am so I'm trying to take advantage and see more of Seattle today. I might write a whole thread about this trip when I get home. It's certainly been awesome but a few unexpected and very negative turns have tired me out. The one thing I've realized: if I'm going to travel alone in way less lonely doing it in nature than in a city.
