    • Definitely some kind of buckle carrier for when she's older. The brand is personal preference. I had a Beco for a little while but traded it for an Ergo. It's had a lot of use the past 3 years and I still love it.

        • Yeah the buckle soft structured carriers are the easiest for newbies to use. There are a ton of different brands out there. Pick one that is comfortable. I had an Ergo and I loved it until I got my Kanga. . I've never used a Beco but have heard they are very similar to the Ergo.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before but thebabywearer forums have a FSOT board where you can get used carriers cheaper than new.

          • I love my Beco. Try one before buying if you can, though. Everyone loves their Ergo but it just didn't work well with my body.

            • Is there a national store that sells a good variety of them like the Beco and Ergo (with a good return policy, so I can return if it doesn't work for us)?

That's interesting...I keep reading reviews on how the Ergo is not as comfortable as the Beco for petite women. I wish I had tried them on before I got huge. Will have to wait until the baby comes so I can test both of them out and see which one fits me better.

                        • I think an Ergo is comfortable, until you try other carriers. . I really liked mine....until I got a Kanga. And I still like the Ergo, just not as much as the Kanga. . I don't think it's that the Ergo is UNcomfortable....just that there are others that can be more comfortable. Does that make sense?

This could be true. I didn't try others and dd is only about 10 lbs so no carrier would be too bad at this point.

And those words have come back to haunt me. Now that she's heavier, I'm realizing that the Ergo is really too big. The shoulder straps can't get tight enough. I love my Ktan but she's getting too heavy (16 lbs) and it's hurting my shoulders. Where do I go from here? She's way too heavy in a ringsling though I'm definitely getting one of those when we have another baby.

The Beco seems a lot like the Ergo but not sure on that. Would a Moby that I learn to tie be more secure?

Need recs for a petite person (5'0'' and small in the upper body) and a HUGE kid.

                              • I love my Moby Wrap. I alternate between the Ergo and Moby for A. She is about 17 lbs. The Moby is more comfortable for me, but for short trips it just takes too long to wrap. I feel like having the weight distributed over a larger area, with the wide shoulders on the Moby is a lot more comfy. I usually use the Ergo for shorter trips since it is so much easier to put on. Do you still face her toward you? I don't think I ever want to face A out. And I'm just starting to experiment with carrying her on my back with the Ergo. I haven't attempted it with the Moby yet.
