It is stupid expensive, but cheaper than personal training? I won't be able to afford it forever

      • Heather Dubrow (from RHOC) says she does OT religiously, and she looks amazing. I'm just too chicken to try it. I almost died trying SoulCycle. Don't think I could handle another intense class like that.

It's really not that bad. You can always back off the intensity if you are dying. Having my heart rate up on a screen really helps me know when I need to back off or of I'm just being a baby. I've been purposefully taking it easy these last couple classes. You don't even have to run

          • Whew, I was getting a little scared, haha. Just in case, I'll advise my DH post to notify you all in the event of my untimely death at Orange Theory.

I thought Soul Cycle was ridiculous. It was fun but I doubt I'd do it if it were in my down. All the push ups and motions on the bike were just strange.

              • I ran a couple miles on the treadmill this morning, but I ran out of childcare time, so I didn't get as long as I wanted. Weight Watchers is changing stuff again, and I hate their new app and website. If the program didn't work so well, I'd quit. It's such a hassle to log things now.

                • I've not managed to log eating through apps either. Need to focus on it more I suspect.

16wk training plan for Berlin starts today. 1 mile warm up, 4x 0.5 mile tempo with 1.30 rest. 1 mile cool down then.....

Roast beef, roast tatties, Yorkshire puddings, leeks in cheese sauce and carrots!!

Are you determining your tempo pace by heart rate/effort, or by reference to your target race pace? It's going to be a really nice motivator to have Strava telling you every time you improve your speed and distance -- congrats on your 1/2 mile record.

Lovely meal, but where's the green food?

                    • My pal who did the Ironman with DW has now got AF so he's gutted. He's offered to coach me and I think it's a good distraction for him. This was a tempo paced interval session. Comfortably hard was the description I ran to. I tried to keep same pace for the four 0.5 mile intervals but did 7.59/mi, 8.05, 7.30, 7.39. I don't have a pulse strap. All new to me since only had the watch a few months to set the distances on.

I know it's not fast in the great scheme of things but it felt great....and I had spinach for breakfast!

Not at all, it's all relative! And that's what I mean about having Strava point out your improvement -- I predict that in a couple of months, or less, your "comfortably hard" is going to be much faster. It sounds like you are in good hands with your trainer.

                        • I took a spin class today. It's been awhile and I had forgotten how much I enjoy it!

                          • I finally started tracking calories with LoseIt last week. I gained about 5 lbs after I stopped bfing, mainly because I think my portion sizes are a little out of whack. Anyway, it's nice to see the scale start moving in the right direction again.

                            • Love all this convo! I did Orange theory with my cousin in the spring and it was a great workout, but fortunately not too tough. I did Barry's boot camp last week and it was a much harder version of OT... Like literally insane, thought I might die on the treadmill and my arms hurt for 5 days. I did soul cycle yesterday with a friend, and realized I hadn't been for a year. Basically I love all these workouts, but really CANNOT rationalize spending $30+ per class on anything regularly... I just needed a little motivation this month since I weighed myself for the first time in awhile (yikes!)

Haha yeah it is fun, I often feel like it's more of a dance class/ testing your ability to be on beat than actually a spin class, but it's a good distraction and good music/beats is what keeps me motivated anyways!
