I went to the podiatrist today and it turns out I have a stress fracture. 😩 They put me in a boot and I'm supposed to limit my activity for the next three weeks until I go for my follow up. DH is such a sweetheart; he went out after work today and got us a stationary recumbent bike so I can stay on the wagon and continue to participate in our Fitbit challenges. Then he spent the rest of the evening assembling it for me. He knew how devastated I was to be sidelined when it took me so long to get on the wagon. I'm such a lucky girl!!
Ack! I was going to ask how the foot was doing. I'm sorry. For the brief span when DH was Fitbitting, he used to tuck the tracker under the leg of his bike shorts so it would pick up every pedal stroke...eventually he got bored of always being at the top of the leaderboard with over 30,000 steps a day, LOL...

Nooooo! I'm sorry about the boot - they are no fun.

It would truly be impossible, I promise. IUD and I just ended my last period a week ago. I will pee on things if/when I get my IUD out. Sorry to disappoint, y'all!

Do y'all wear it on your shoe if you do elliptical?

I thought that if I just put it on my shoe it would count the steps when I'm doing either the bike or elliptical. As it turns out, that's not the case. It barely counts anything. 😒. I'm so frustrated, the last two days I've cycled, but haven't reached my 10K goal. My streak is officially broken. 😔 I know logically I'm still exercising and that's a good thing, but the Fitbit and the challenges really motivated me to have a specific daily goal to achieve.
My DD even reminded me that I'll have to be that much stricter with my eating since I won't be burning as many calories. It doesn't help that she joined Girl Scouts this year and we are just kicking off cookie season. I'm surrounded by endless supplies of yummy cookies around the clock. I have been too tempted yet, but I know it's just a matter of time. Trying to be strong.

Ugh there's gotta be a way for it to track on the bike! What about putting it on the actual pedal? I'm sorry that happened with your foot that is so frustrating. How long before you think you'll be back to normal?
This week is seriously fucked. Our last day in Mexico I got word that my aunt passed away. So when we got home Monday evening I booked another flight out Friday morning. I know my weekend students in particular are frustrated they haven't had lessons in three weeks but there's nothing I can do. I've spent all week trying to reschedule and get as many in before I leave. I read an article by a Canadian activist about classicism and being "time poor." She was discussing more that poor people don't have time for creative endeavors but it made me think about how for me it's having enough time to cook healthy food and work out.
I "went paleo" again this week but so far that just means cutting out bread. I just don't have it in me to go through sugar withdrawal yet.
Dare I say I enjoyed today's tempo run. Blues Brother soundtrack, dog at heel and 5 miles of forest, mud and trails. Stats would look a lot better if I stuck to the roads but where's the fun in that?

I love trail running, even if it always surprises me how much longer it takes. And my son's karate sensei sometimes plays "Soul Man" during their workout time, and it always makes me want to jump up and dance!

Hang in there, it's a temporary thing. Try looking at the group leaderboard for Active Minutes, I bet you can kick ass on that for February if you log your cycling time manually! https://www.fitbit.com/group/22FXLQ/...=CURRENT_MONTH
Also, when DH was using the Fitbit, he would tuck the tracker under the leg of his cycling shorts, basically on the side of his thigh. That way it got the full leg motion, and it definitely counted his cycling as steps that way. I don't know if you could do that with the bracelet model, but it's worth a try?
